WWYD? BC/YC end of August (huge deal) or value/mod in Nov/Dec & hope for free dining?

What package would you choose?

  • Brave the heat of August and go for over 40% off at BC/YC

  • Enjoy the decorations & cooler temps of Nov/Dec, hope for free dining at a moderate

  • Save my pennies & just stay at a value

We are 2 adults and 6 kids hoping to go to Disney World this fall. Ideally we would like to go November/December for a little cooler weather (August/September will be uncomfortably HOT!!) and to see the parks decorated for Christmas (my kids and I have been twice before, both times at the end of September).

That said, we were offered a fantastic deal for BC/YC August 26 - September 2. $4576.92 for 2 standard view rooms and 7 day MYW tickets and a bonus entry to one of the water parks for all 8 of us. The same package at a value would be $3650.47 (rack rate) and at a moderate would be $4,903.77 (rack rate).

Then there is the wild card called "free dining". There are rumours that free dining may not be offered at all or if it is, will not be offered at values and only quick service at mods and deluxes.

In all honestly, my dream scenario would be to stay at a POR Riverside (queen sized beds + murphy bed in Alligator Bayou section, hot tub, pool slide!) in November/December and get the free DDP. However, not knowing what (if anything) will be offered for discounts is what is making me think long and hard about this deal.

WWYD?

Can the reservation be canceled? If so, I would book the BC in August and then if cancel if something that you like better comes along.

Yes, it can but I would probably need to book (non-refundable) airfare for it before any free dining offer would become available for Nov/Dec. Historically they've come out in June/July correct?

I wasn't thinking of airfare. I always fly SWA now, which can be canceled and rebooked.

I've been to the world in August 2x. It's not THAT BAD :) . You just need to try and keep cool as much as you can and do plenty of swimming...especially at BC/YC!!! It is an amazing resort and SAB is well worth it! Also, 40% for any deluxe is very good! Now, you can't give up a great offer like that huh? :goodvibes

Have a great trip to the world!!

I'd go for the 2 rooms at the BC. That's a fantastic deal for two rooms! 40% off deals are rare and getting rarer it seems.

I have been to Orlando in August, and it is hot, but not so much hotter than where I live that it kept me from loving my vacation. Go to the parks early, relax at the pool during the early afternoon, then head back out after the short afternoon rain that seems to happen every day around 3. We loved our trip last year so much that we're doing it again.

I voted for the BC. That is a great deal for the BC and although it will be hot in August, the kids will probably love SAB. As the pp said, go to the parks early in the morning, back to the resort in the afternoon for pool time, then head back to the parks later in the evening. Have a great time.....the BC is an awesome resort.
