On a DIS Unplugged podcast, someone mentioned that, at the time, Universal was giving out timed entry tickets to WWoHP. Is that still going on? If my sister and I come over from Disney for a day, do we need to worry about what time we arrive or will we be able to visit any time of day? Thanks!

We left yesterday, and it was used everyday last week, to my knowledge. I know that last Monday it was still closed to those who didn't have a return ticket at 8 pm. I don't believe that was the case all week though.

You best bet is to be there first thing in the AM and book it to the HP area, or go in the evening.

Yes. :thumbsup2

Or you could arrive later in the morning of course, but you may have to wait up to several hours to get into WWoHP.

Universal employs this system for crowd control. If crowds are heavy--as they have been over the last 6 weeks or so with spring break and Easter--they will implement it. If crowds are light, then you may not see it at all.

They didn't do it on Sunday last week when we were there, but Monday they did!

Monday, but not Sunday? How odd. We're not going until May, so maybe this is just Spring Break crowds. Our plan is to be there between 9 and 10. Is that early enough?

I'd get there at rope drop. It was busy even then because of early entry!

I must've been there the same time. I at Universal on Monday 4/18. We didn't know about getting the timed entry tickets until we goto to the WWoHP entry point. Then we had to walk back about 10 minutes to get them. The tickets were for 3 hours later. 2pm >> 5pm. Or the standby line. We did stand by line, which was an unshaded line in a back lot area, backs of buildings chain fences for scenery and 0 shade. It was hot on the 18th for NYers. We probably got into WWoHP about 45 minutes of being on standby. WWoHP was beyond packed. It was like being in New Orleans on Mardi Gras. Took about a half hour to get 4 butter bears for our group. We left area after that, frustrated. Why have time entry if the whole area is overfull?

To sum up, I would never do again during a peak season, or wait so long to get over there. The group had 2 babies so we were hanging out in Seuss land.

Sunday tends to be the least crowded day of the week.

That Monday was crazy and hot as all get out. I thought I might die several times! We never went back to HP because of the crazy lines! I was okay with that, though!

so is this system similiar to Disney Fastpass, but just for WWoHP? Is there a certain part of it this pertains to? Or the rollar coaster or just the castle? If we decide on going this June this would be a big reason for our decision so just wanting to see what we're looking at...

It is similar to Disney FP yes, but it is only to get into the WWoHP area, which is analogous to getting into Fantasyland or Tomorrowland. It has no value once inside, so you're back to waiting in lines for the attractions themselves.

Oh wow, ok I see what your saying, must be pretty packed in that area of the park to have to regulate the amount of people in the area...guess if we decide this that getting there at rope drop is the key!

Yup. Very popular, very small space. A TM once told me the capacity of WWoHP is only 9,000.

Question - where exactly do we get our return time for WWoHP? I saw the post about missing the spot and having to backtrack. I'm hoping to avoid any backtracking as we'll probably only be there for one day. Thanks.:)

The one time I did this, I got the return ticket from a TM outside the Sinbad show in Lost Continent. I thought I've heard the location can vary, but I think that's the only place I've heard explicitly mentioned on here.
