My family is going to Universal Orlando for the first time ever this year! Unfortunately, we have to go during the busiest week of the year, the week after Christmas.

My question, if the line to tour Hogwarts without riding FJ is closed, will we still be able to walk through slowly soaking it all in?

I've read that at busy times of the year they close the queue that allows you to tour Hogwarts WITHOUT riding Forbidden Journey. My DD is sad that she won't be able to enjoy all the wonderful details of Hogwarts at a leisurely pace due to the Tour line being closed the week we're there.

Is it possible to bring a camera and tour slowly during peak season, or is that not an option the week after Christmas?

Thanks for your help!

Of course. Just because they close the non-riding tour line doesn't mean you *have to* ride when you hit the end. You'll exit just at the sorting hat area if you're not riding but you'll get to see everything else. And at a peak time with a long line, you'll really get to see things, because the line won't be moving fast. We've only been at quieter times, so we've always been rushed through (we could just stop, and have done that, but people get weird and then one of us has to be on "just go on by" duty instead of looking around).

If no one is riding, just tell them that every time you come to a Team Member. I mention that because if you're carrying a camera they will be looking at you meaningfully. :) You're not riding, you can carry stuff through the line, it's OK. (but maybe still use a locker for most of your stuff, just for comfort) (and in case anyone WANTS to ride)

We took our time through the line and soaked in everything.

There are a couple of pre-shows you will want to watch. One is in Dumbledores office and the other is in a classroom just before you get to the sorting hat. They are fun to watch so don't be afraid to stop and take them in.

There are so many details. I must have ridden this ride about 16 times and I still things I haven't seen.

Thank you so much for the helpful replies. It's difficult to imagine how things work when you've never been there.

Thanks again!

We went that week two years Ago and it was insane. The day we were there they stopped selling tickets because they were at capacity.

We got there for rope drop and it was like Black Friday at Walmart. I saw a man smack his kid with his cane while yelling at the kid to go faster. With the new diagonally opening things will be crazy again

THAT is what Im worried about.... :scared: I hope Universal has some other plans for crowd and line control... perhaps a different plan or set up?

For Diagon Alley? Maybe. If everyone wants to go there, no line or plan can change that, right?
