Is there a weight watchers "core plan" thread here on WISH?

I just switched from flex to core. I thought I would use the WW message boards for support, but it seems as if a lot of the posters are "vets" and have very little tolerance for newbies.

I am more of a "warm fuzzy" type of person than a "hand me my butt in a paper bag" kind of person.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I agree about the WW Core board. You ask a simple question, and the answer is always "There is a search feature in the upper right hand cormer". Way to make someone feel welcome. AOL has a WW board that anyone can access...its not solely core, but a lot of posters are very core knowledgeable. If you kind one here, let me know. I would be very interested.

Thank you thank you thank you for putting this up! I am thinking of switching from flex to core, and keeping my husband on flex. He has to have his sandwich every day.... oye. SO, I think I'm going to do it!

NOW, here's my question--- what does a typical day look like for you? I love whole grain pastas and potatos and what have you... but don't you think it'll get boring after a while? I don't know. Maybe it'll be good- I'm thinking of making my own soups and freezing them to take to work every day. That might be fun. The 35 points we get extra a week... those are the same points we used to calculate on flex, right? SO, for example, fat free sour cream- does this count as fat free dairy, or would this have a point value with this plan?? Or things like low calorie wheat bread- would 2 pieces still be 1 point or is the point value inflated? :confused3

It's a big step- and I think I'm going to make the switch!!!!

Hi!

To answer one of your questions, the points are the same as on the on the flex plan. I have only been on core for one week, but from what I have gathered, some people like to use a few points each day for variety and some people save all their points so they can have one "splurge" day per week. I fall into the latter category. I CANNOT give up my weekend meal at the local Mexican restaurant :rolleyes1

As to the menu, well.....I am still learning. I have been very simplistic this week. Typical day: B: Southwestern egg beater omlet with fat free cheddar
Snack: Banana
Lunch: Shredded wheat with skim milk and strawberries
Snack: Popcorn (94% fat free) snack size bag and diet coke
Dinner: Grilled or broiled meat or seafood with olive oil and spices, vegetables, salad, rice or potato.
Bedtime snack: Weight watchers 1 point fudge bar and apple slices.

This week we are doing taco night (wrapped in lettuce leaves instead of the shell), spaghetti (whole wheat) with ground turkey in the sauce, broiled salmon with green beans, baked potato with broccoli and fat free cheese, grilled chicken with sweet potato, beef stir fry in terikayi sauce.

I am a carb junkie and thought I would feel awful. It has been OK because of the fruit, cereal, and pasta. I can live with this!

My weigh in is Monday. I believe I have lost 3 lbs so far. It was what I needed to get "unstuck" with my weight loss.

I know I have a lot to learn, and I hope to find other core users who can join us for the journey! :yay:

 Hi Shan.

I am a Core convert, I have been doing WW for several years, my stats are in my siggie and have followed Flex for most of that time. I have been a lifetime member for a year (this week) and switched to Core a little over 5 weeks ago. My main reason for switching to Core was that I gained a few pounds and needed to get them off before weigh in and also because I was tired of journaling. I have been a WISH member for years and have found some wonderful support and guidance here, I never got the warm fuzzies on the WW message boards so I eventually stopped wasting my time over there.

There are a good handful of people here that have recently made the switch to Core also, many of us post on the WW thread (the later pages). Here is a link to the second part of the thread: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1784525 - if you have time you should stop by and check it out.
