We have never eaten at any of the restaurants in WS before. We were hoping to try one this trip but I am allergic to peanuts, eggs and shellfish. We were going to try Via Napoli but i've read that they dont do substitutions, etc so we decided its a no go.

We've always had amazing experiences regarding allergies at all the TS and even at the CS restaurants. Are any of the WS restaurants as accomodating?

They don't make substitutions normally. Any restaurant will make accomodations for allergies.

On the DISAbilities board you can find detailed information on contacting Disney Special Diets so you can notify the restaurants ahead of time about your allergies. Most of the WS restaurants are not operated by Disney, but they will work with Disney Special Diets as well.

I agree with checking out the disABILITIES! board. It's an amazing board with plenty of people who have lots of experience with food allergies at WDW.

We'll only eat at reastaurants owned by Disney. Most of the restaurants around the WS are unfortunately not owned by Disney. LeCellier and Akershus are Disney owned and I think maybe Biergarten but all the rest are not owned by Disney. At Epcot there's also Coral Reef and Garden Grill that are both owned by Disney but they're in FW, not WS. We've dined at all of the ones listed with the exception of Biergarten (my family isn't so into the flavours found in German food and I think my autistic child might have a problem with the seating arrangements and noise level) but we've had great experiences at all the rest.

The pavilions with restaurants operated by third parties are Mexico, Japan, France, Italy and Morocco.

I keep forgetting about Rose & Crown being Disney owned. The menu doesn't appeal much to us, at least not compared to the places we enjoy so much, so I tend to forget it.

China is also not Disney owned.

My kids are peanut, tree nut and shellfish allergic. In the WS we've dined at Biergarten, Teppan Edo, and Rose & Crown. Biergarten has always been very good at dealing with the kids' allergies. The chef walks us through the buffet line and lets us know what is safe. The food and service at Rose & Crown were not good, but they did make sure the kids' meals were safe. We went to Teppan Edo this year and loved it. We were a lilttle concerned, because of the shellfish allergy, but had been assured by one of DH's co-workers who has a shellfish allergy that she's dined there about a dozen times and never had an allergic reaction. The manager, waitress and chef were fantastic. We ate at the first lunch seating of the day, so the grills had been thoroughly cleaned. The kids meals were prepared before everyone else's, because some people at our table ordered shrimp. The show the chef put on was lots of fun, too!

My DS15 is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, mussels, clams, lobster, scallops and some soy (tofu, soy milk and edamome). We have eaten at Biegarten, the original italien restaurant, teppan edo, tokyo dining, marakesh, san angelo, and Akersush (before the princesses). We have had a wonderful experience in all of them! The chefs have always come out and talked with us and been extremely accomodating. They were a little freaked out at Teppan Edo because they use a lot of soy. Luckily for him he doesn't have a problem with soy sauce. Once we explained they were happy and spent a lot of time chatting with him and helping him choose things that were safe. He loves eating at WDW and the WS in particular!

Thanks. Yeah I've put this question up on the disAbilities board before and got like 1 response so i figured I would try here.

I think we will try either Biergarten or Teppan Edo. The shellfish allergy is not cross conatamination and soy is not an issue. The only really severe allergy is the peanut allergy.

Hi disfan07!

You have already received several responses, so I'll just add a general suggestion! In addition to the disABILITIES section on the DISboards, another great resource is Passporter's Open Mouse by Deb Wills and Debra Martin Koma. We've used many Open Mouse strategies with our pre-schooler! Based on my professional experience with food allergies, I think the Open Mouse information regarding food allergies at WDW is very helpful.

Have a great trip!! :wizard:

I suggest looking there only to get the contact information for Disney Special Diets, they have an e-mail address to use posted there. It's likely better for you to contact them yourself, ahead of time, instead of waiting until you get to the restaurant.

We try to eat at Tokyo Dining every trip and they are VERY accommodating to my mom's shellfish allergy (as is every restaurant we have tried in WDW).

When we make our ADR we include that she has allergies and in Japan a manager comes out and points out everything that she can have. No problems at all.

::yes::
You will find the contact information in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread, which is close to the top of the disABILITIES Board or I have a link directly to that thread in my signature.

Thanks!. Yeah I have that email address actually saved in my contact list already. I emailed them back in July when we first made our reservation.

The only WS restaurant we have ever eaten in was Nine Dragons (before I developed a peanut allergy) but now chinese food is completely off limits. So I was curious as to other peoples personal experiences with the other WS restaurants
