Wrong names for rides you or people you know INSIST on calling them

Okay -- here are some new ones --

My children call Maelstrom "Mouse Drum". I guess they think that's how you say it....

They also call the Tomorrowland Speedway the "Drive Mom Crazy" ride.

The Universe of Energy is "The Ellen Show"

Though it's not a ride, my youngest calls the Sc-Fi Dine-In the "Sci-Fi Diamond"

My boys are known for coming up with their own names for things and then calling it that permanently. For example, we have a Mexican Restaurant in town called Los Portales. But in my house it is called "Chicken Taco Hola" because when they were little they would eat chicken tacos there and say "hola" to the wait staff. The only problem came when my in-laws came to town to babysit when my dh and I went out of town. They drove around town one night trying to find "Chicken Taco Hola". Ahh the minds of young children.....

my DNiece 3 yrs old called WDW "Mickey's House" anything having to do with disney world is mickey's house
watching the christmas parade this past saturday was cute because she wanted to leave to go to "Mickeys house now grandpa" (grandpa = my stepdad) shes yet to go to WDW we are going in October her mother wanted to wait till her sister was a little older she'll be 2yrs when we leave

We have a few "different" names because my DH can never come up with the real ones! At first when he said them, we repeated them as a joke, but over the years, they've become part of the regular "Disney speak" for us!

O'hana = Moohanee's (Moo-HA-nees)
Ghiradelli's = Geraldi's
Pecos Bill's = Peso Bills

Saying "Moohanee's" can still start us off on a fit of giggles!!

Sammy

My aunt and unlce INSIST that the 50's Prime-time cafe is called "Mom's Kitchen". I finally had to whip out the guide book for proof.

I hate when people call MGM Universal Studios. Also have you ever been in line while people are discussing things at Disney World and they are totally wrong and you don't want to interupt to tell them. I just laugh to myself. Mean I know.
My daughter started callling TOT Tower of Tiernon when she was 4.

I am told by my sister, a former CM, that the castle at MK actually "belongs" to King Stefan (of Sleeping Beauty fame) but he named it Cinderella Castle to honor Cindy? I guess that explains why the restaurant used to be called King Stefan's Banquet Hall.

This thread is really cute. I've never been on the teacups, but I still call them that instead of the real name!

We also call the Tomorrowland Transit Authority the People Mover still! :D

& we also call Ellen's Energy Adventure The Ellen Ride! :rolleyes:

Just bumping, so that I can subscribe to the thread. Can't seem to find another way to do so.

On the top of the thread there is a drop down for Thread Tools and you can subscribe there ;)

The most notable is calling Philharmagic, "The Donald Duck Show" -- the nickname came from our 4 and 5 year old. Most things we call by their real name or an obviously shortened version (i.e., Snow White Ride, Peter Pan ride, Winnie the Pooh ride)... Nicknames never bothered me; in fact, I kind of consider them a sign of affection or endearment, so to me, if families have special names for things and everyone else in their group knows what they're talking about, that's kind of cool.... I must admit however, I am a sticker for the whole DW/DL thing.

I call Mad Hatter's Tea Party: The Tea Cups. And I call BTMRR Big Thunder Mountain, or just Thunder Mountain.

The biggest one:

people referring to the Magic Kingdom as Disney World, and then each of the other parks by its correct name!

Argh! That one busg me like crazy! I wa sonce in MK and heard a woman on her phone saying "Yeah, we're in Disney now, but we're heading over to EPCOT- why don't you meet us there." Craziness!

I refer to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party as: THE TEA CUPS
Yeah, I'm also guilty of this one :upsidedow
