Hi

We are writing our own wedding vows, but has anybody ever done this who could perhaps give me a few pointers. I know the kind of thing I want to say but I would love to hear some others.

Here's the link to the post in my trip report where I posted my vows, completely written by us: http://disboards.com/showpost.php?p=18702855&postcount=39 (you have to scroll down a bit; they're in purple).

I did a bit of research online first. We opted for a non-religious ceremony, but there's lots of help with that sort of thing as well. I figure there's three ways to exchange vows: where you and your DH read your own vows, where the officiant asks you to repeat after him, and where the officiant asks you a question and you answer "I do." Since we knew we'd be nervous, we went with the latter two, so didn't say hardly anything at all.

I think my vows might be on the shorter side, and they're definitely more irreverent than most, but hopefully it'll help you at least a little.

Good luck!
