Wow Trying to get airline tickets with Southwest...

when I booked the $39 airfare last March, it was on their website, but not on the Ding list!!! So, it's probably worthwhile to check both each day...

There was a Ding fare posted today for $79 each way, but for travel thru February. Also have not gotten any email specials since dates were extended for travel from my airport for my dates to Orlando. There have been specials for earlier travel though. I think waiting is the best bet right now to get better prices.

Gina - are you going in May...I got an email on the 1/6 for travel through 6/9. I booked our tickets for our trip of 5/7 through 5/13. They were not as cheap as I've gotten in the past, but I don't want to take a chance on the non-stop flights being full. I paid $224 pp. It's worth it to me to pay a little more and not have to stop or change planes on the way. It takes so long to get there if you are not flying direct and wastes so much of our precious Disney time!

The email stated "Blackout dates apply to all Florida markets: 3/8/06 - 4/24/06" so if you're going in April, I wouldn't count on a great fare. I figure, I can always get a credit and use it next year if the fares go down.

Yes,I saw that too.It doesn't look like their going to be having any great fares to Florida for April. That is not good news.Hopefully one of the airlines will start a 'Fare' war to Florida.

I too am not crazy about not having a assigned seat for SW, but I think I like it more than all the flight changing that Delta does.
To be fair, most of Delta's flight schedule changes happen only before Southwest even allows you to book flights. Delta allows you to book flights 330 days prior, while Southwest prevents you from booking flights until four or five months prior.

The "compensation" for living without assigned seats on Southwest must be its lower fares... if you're not getting a better fare on Southwest than you could get on Delta, then I believe you're being ripped off.

SalandJeff,

Yes I am going in May. My dates are May 5th returning the 13th. I check the prices on SW at least 2xper day. Right now it is $224 pp w/out taxes and fees. Delta is $273.
