We have a last minute (forgot to bank our points) trip coming up...4 nights, 2 moves. First night was in an SSR studio, nights 2 & 3 in a 1-BR at SSR, then last night BWV studio. I wanted to keep the last night at BWV the same, but waitlisted for BWV or BCV STUDIO the first night, and BWV or BCV 1-Br the next two nights...an exchange of size for size.

The waitlist for the BWV studio the first night came through. :thumbsup2

I just called to add other resorts to the request for the two middle nights, and found out that what my waitlist currently said was that we wanted a 1-BR at BCV or BWV all 4 nights! We don't! Just for the two nights in the middle. To get a 1 BR all 4 nights would require borrowing more points, which we absolutley do not want to do. We considered waitlisting for a BWV studio those two nights in the middle for the sake of staying in one place, but decided we'd rather have the inconvenience of moving to stay in a 1-BR than to stay in a studio all 4 nights (plus, we've already used the points). But we definitely didn't want a 1 BR all 4 nights...just don't want to use anymore points. The point of the trip is to use up the points we forgot to bank, while borrowing as few points as possible.

Turns out an OKW 1-BR became available, so we get back 10 points into a holding acct, and we won't be able to use them (unless another waitlist comes through), which kind of kills me since we had to borrow some points to do this trip, but...oh well...we'd rather be at OKW.

I must've confirmed 10 times with my last call how the waitlist stands now. I thought I had been VERY clear the first time around tho too. :confused3

Hoping for the best for you... and your upcoming trip!

Must say... I'm impressed your desires to check in and out so much. Checking in and out 3 times in 4 nights... WOW! I'd definitely try to get the studio time together and that would save 1 ck in/ck out for the same room type.

I'm wondering how many people lose points at the end of the year. I can see how it can happen... so many variables.

Good luck... hope it works out for you!

I'd rather have the room of the 1-BR for a couple of nights (and already paid the points anyway). It's just my DH and me, and we're troopers ;) and just go with the flow. :) And it's a good lesson in remembering to bank our points on time in the future. What I would have really hated to see is if the waitlist as they had it...1 BR for all 4 nights...had come through without us realizing that's what they had down.

Sorry for your troubles. It always pays to check on waitlists; Two separate occasions I set up waitlists and when I called to check on them (which they always say you don't need to do), there was no waitlist!!! Thankfully it all worked out, but only because I called to check.

Hi, Mary Ann - seems you and I are singing the same song!!!! One of my nights cleared, too - so now I have the same situation as you - 9 points in holding! But it was better to do this, because it guaranteed me a room on property the missing night of our trip (I had to take a 2BR because it was all that was available), and now that my waitlist has cleared I can be in a 1 BR for 4 nights in a row. That is worth the 9 points in holding - and maybe I will take a short hop sometime this year and use them up!!!

I think I'll call and see what my waitlist currently says, just to make sure. I would love to get one more piece of good luck and be able to stay at AKV for the first two nights, instead of having to move.

After reading thru these threads I called to confirm my waitlist. It was fine.. but at least now I have peace of mind that it is ok. Thanks for the advice...

Posts like these just confirm my dislike of waitlisting!

I am one who needs to own where she wants to stay and also needs to book at the 11 month window. Waitlisting is too stressful for me to handle. I admire those of you who can do it! :)

Sorry for your problems, MaryAnnDVC. Hope it all works out for you.

It's like we're living parallel lives! :lmao:

Now that I have those 10 points in holding, my mind is racing...how can I get another trip in before June 1, and how many points will I have to borrow to use up those 10 points?! :rotfl:

But really, I'd rather have the 10 points "wasted" and stay at OKW than stay at SSR...not that SSR isn't lovely...but we just prefer OKW.

Carol, I used to be an 11-month scheduler, until the darn kids' lives got so busy and now it seems we're always waiting on someone. Oldest DD is going to school in Spain this summer, talking about going from there to Japan or Korea afterwards (she's friendly at college with foreign exchange students, and apparently thinks money grows on trees!); 2nd DD is going to be a college Freshmen, altho now we THINK she decided where to go so we know when she needs to move in; DS has one soccer season ending in July and tryouts for HS soccer in August. And their school vacations don't coincide with each other. It's just SO unfair to ME! ;)
