It's 3 am, I can't sleep (bad toothache) so why not entertain myself by writing some of Day 3?
Day 3 wasn't overly exciting but we'll see if I can do it some justice. Wait I take that back...One of the funniest moments of the trip happened on Day3.
So TC and I make a plan to wake up early , get breakfast @ Maya Grill and then head to MGM for opening. I roll over @ 6:15 and TC isn't there. Hmmm, Wonder where he could have gone. I get up and shower and get dressed. I call home to the kids and get all the updates on school and what they have been doing. Here it is Day 3 and I feel like I have been away from them for a month . Seems that Ashley and Trae have gotten quite a bit of fun and freedom the last 2 days, which included staying up an hour past bedtime on school nights, hot fudge sundaes for desserts and a few other things they know wouldn't slide if we were home. I'ts ok though because they get some sort of "break" while we are on vacation right?
At 7:05 the door opens and TC comes in, pretty sweaty and yucky. He had been at the fitness center since opening and was ready to shower and start the day. I rushed him along and we headed out making it to Maya Grille by 7:30. The food here for breakfast buffet IMO was so-so. I kinda picked and wasn't hungry enough to like it I guess...TC seemed pretty satisfied but then again, breakfast is his meal of choice. I felt very underdressed sitting in Maya Grill as everyone there was a conventioner that morning, dressed for success. Becuase of this meal we decided that later in the week we would skip 1900 PF (though I LOVE it there) since I wasn't into really eating much mornings and just use our TS credit here since we had originally planned it as out of pocket.
We headed to the bus and it arrived quickly. There was 1 other couple that had boarded at a stop before us so the bus wasn't totally empty this morning, but close enough to relax and be able to chat freely. We arrived @ MGM just after 8:30 and were let through the turnstiles within a few minutes. Made our way down Hollywood Blvd, staying very close to the right so we could get to RnR and ToT. We watched the little preshow they put on for opening ceremony and as with everything Disney, it just gets me pumped for what is to come. I start worrying about TC. He ate a BIG breakfast and hates rollercoasters. He gets sick on them and I contemplated backing out for him. He assured me he would be ok, and if that is what I wanted to do, then that is what we'd do
Awww, sweet guy. So the rope drops and we follow the CM's closely over to RnR where I was going to grab a FP, TC isn't allowing me to get many of those this trip since the lines were so short. We got right in and were the FIRST car ride of the day---headed to the AEROSMITH concert! WOOOHOOOO!! TC watched all the test run cars screech out of sight and I saw the nervousness in his eyes. I once again offered to back out but he said "No, I want to go on now!". Who am I to argue? So we load on, take off our sunglasses and hold on for dear life.....5......4......3.....2......1111111111111111RRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!! And through the loops and turns my mind was focused on him...I kept thinking, oh man I barely ate and my tummy is feeling woozy...VERY unlike me. After what seemed like ternity we stop and pull into the que to unload and I am afraid to look his way...I do slowly and I see......a SMILE! He said while rides still aren't "amusing" to him, he didn't mind that too much. It was easy. PHEW...maybe another ride? No dice. Ah well. We head out to see our photo and the nicest lil CM tells us how to pose next time and chats with us about what he knows about Massachusetts. Great guy.
We make our way out and I ask TC if he is ready for ToT. Sure, why not. So we walk right in and head through the library, watch the creepy movie and TC being the goof he is starts making noises to freak people out. DORK.
We head into the loading area and are seated in the bottom left row (I think they call it row 2) and we wait for the bellhop to wish us a safe trip through the twilight zone. Up and away we go, ascending then moving through the hotel. We watched as the "premise" of the ride was playing out in front of us. And then the big moment----TC SMILE for the picture!!!! And a drop, then back up---wow look at that view, my favorite part, WOPPPPS another drop, yay back up---so nice outside today DROP....this went on about 5 or 6 times and then it was over, all too quick. TC looked unscathed so I asked if we could ride again...NO. NO. Just like that.
Off ToT we headed across the park and saw the Power Rangers..My 6 year old's favorite the black/white one and TC quickly got in line to pose LMAO :
and we headed towards the backlot tour. I had never seen this and we were the first to get into line for the next show. The CM come around asking if anyone wants to be in the show. By this point 2 other families had shown and there were 3 volunteers, but they needed 4. So TC went to turn to me praying not to get asked and the CM said "Yes, you sir, come on! It'll be FUUUUN"...TC agreed and they led him away and asked me to follow the front row down and stand dead center.
Is what I see and I can't help but laugh. He is so shy that this is going to be entertaining. So they start the show and announce that TC is going to have 10,000 gallons of water dumped on him --here he is being nervous :
and then his bad acting skills :
...I got a really good laugh and he came off nice and wet:
. From there they took us on the actual backlot tour and we enjoyed that. I liked the special effects used when you arrive at the tanker :
The video I took does it more justice.
Once we finished the tour we headed out of the park and decide to get our suits on and go to Blizzard Beach. When we arrived we headed right for Summit Plummit but I chickened out and went for Slush Gusher..That was bad enough, not out of fear but for some reason I almost choke half to death each time and my bathing suit becoming a permenant resident of my behind isn't fun IMO. TC enjoys it and we go do some of the slides (storm slides were first I believe). Then from there I wanted to hang out in the river, so we found a spot to get into the creek and relaxed for a bit. We were done with this park within 2 hours and there wan't anything really spectacular to mention so let me head back to the resort now for lunch. That is always a good topic...MMMMMM More chicken Fajitas...love them! And I love the PM. We leave there and head to the room for a shower and nap...the nap wasn't working and it was about 3:30 and I know AK has EMH so I told TC we should head that way to see if we can knock out some rides. The park was NUTSO. We got our wristbands and wandered towards Dinosaur. I really like this ride even though it beats the crud out of me everytime. It is exciting. TC enjoyed it and our photo came out pretty funny...We both almost looked scared HAHA. We came out and headed to EE and it was broken down and the lines outside were crazy so we kept on walking. The parade was making it's way through the streets so we were detoured but I got some good pics anyway:
and we decided we just weren't feeling EMH here today...That was the joy of not having kids with us...bouncing around a lot and doing what we wanted--HOW we wanted. Felt good. Ahhh pretty birds, I'll see you all Saturday on my planned AK day
From there we took the bus to Port Orleans Riverside so I can show TC the resort a bit since I stayed there in February and loved it. He thought it looked peaceful and said he'd like to stay there someday.
We jumped on the boat to DTD
spur of the moment to go browse and waste the rest of the afternoon.
I told TC he would probably like Wolfgang Express so we headed directly there. We both got the Rosemary Half a chicken and it was pretty good. I liked my mashed potatoes . We got a cookie and a brownie and we split them. From there we walked over the Pleasure Island where we figured we'd spend the evening. First up was Disney Quest. We stayed there about 1.5 hours but it got old pretty quick. I actually posted a message in this thread from there just with a quick update that night. DQ was empty and we just did what we wanted. Walking back around towards the Adventure Club (where we planned to go) we saw these guys:
and they were posing for pics getting into some compromising positions. As we head towards the clubs TC starts getting moody and as I direct him one we he walks another. I don't say much at this point but when I get up to him he says "So I thought we'd head back to the resort and swim, sound good"? UMMMMMM WHAT???? We had PLANS!!! Trying to relax I said "whatever" and we started walking. I must have been showing my attitude b/c he started on my case..I told him we had plans and he said he just gave a suggestion, I shouldn't have agreed if I cared..He then says "Michelle, this is YOUR vacation, do what you want:". ARGH... Can you believe that statement???? So I attempted to leave him where he was and I headed for the bus---he caught up, DANG. We board the bus after what felt like an eternity and remained silent. WOW, first argument of the trip. Good record though
We get off the bus and as we are waling we both start laughing and realize we are stress free, no reason to be mad this week and who cares what we do. So we pose for some pics together :
Don't laugh, I'm a geek, I propped the camera on a trash barrel for the photos! HAHA. By the time we got to our room we were laughing and joking and we decided a swim was an excellent idea...until we got over there----it was mobbed!! 9pm on a Wednesday night and it was crazy. The hot tub was full to capacity and the pool was over run with children. We head to the quiet pool and there was a handful of people there. The air wasn't warm enough for me to want to swim now at this point so we gave up on the idea and went to the room for bed. The following day was an Epcot day, so I wanted to be up early.
WOW, I got one day done in 1 sitting!!! I will work on Day 4 later, though it wasn't very eventful since we had done Epcot already amd planned a few MORE days there later that week.
