My kiddos are ages 3 and 5 . They loveeeeeeeeeeeeeee the Nickelodeon characters and are way more interested in them than any of the Disney characters. However the Nick Hotel prices imo are ridiculously high that being said I know my kids would LOVE it reguardless. Im thinking of doing a trip to the Nick Hotel only (no disney) in 2012 .However it would only be maybe 2 nights and those 2 nights will end up costing just as much as a 5 night Disney vacation...I dunno what to do ...Im torn...I have to factor in flights (atleast $600 for all of us ....not to mention taxis to the airport and back home...another $60) than the cost of a taxi from MCO to Nick Hotel...and Nick Hotel back to MCO maybe about another $100.....Ahhhhh yes cant forget the "Resort fee" that nick charges which is another $60....Ooopsies another little thing called food (another $200) :confused3 Am I forgetting anything ??? I want my kids to experience this because they get so excited when they see it on the computer but by the time I add on the fees and everything else for a simple 2 night stay it seems a bit ridiculous.... In total I'd be spending maybe $1300 for a 2 night weekend trip :scared1: ...I could go to disney for a week /park tickets for us all for that price!

I dunno...Im trying to decide...Is it really worth it ? ...Is there a better way to do this trip?? Like maybe do 1 or 2 nights at Nick ...than transfer to Disney World so atleast I wont have to pay for a taxi back to MCO ??....or 1 night Nick ...4 nights Disney ?? ( I think my kids would FREAK out just staying for one night though )

I was going to do the Nick Hotel in March for 2 nights. I had a great rate of $79 per night but when I switched the dates the prices skyrocketed . I tried to book for this May and even as late as October and the price was still double that. $79 per night isnt that bed . I could definetly swing that but the dates I choose are still around $190 a night excluding the resort fee

I don't know why 14 people viewed your post, but didn't respond........ The Nickelodeon Hotel is a one of a kind hotel, but if you're going to the Disney parks on your trip... you had the right idea of staying there one night...and then moving on.... it's pretty much a park in itself!!!!!

The Nick hotel is great for a couple of nights, where you can enjoy all the stuff there. Right now travelzoo.com is offering a deal at the Nick hotel, $99 a night plus $20 in food and beverage credits.

As for saving money, can you drive to Orlando? You can save a lot of money and do more things when you aren't held hostage on Disney property. You can also eat in cheaper places, stay in hotels with free breakfast, etc.

I dont drive so I can't drive to Florida but believe me if I knew how to drive i'd probaly go to Orlando 4-5 times a year! Oh and stay off property! I have no problems staying in a super cheap motel and eating fast food to save $$$...This just makes all the more sense to go ahead and face my fear of driving....Honestly Im scared :scared1: . In the meantime I think Im going to save money /take driving lessons in September to get my license ...so when I actually fly down to Florida I can rent a car and be able to afford the Nick Hotel ...hopefully by next year!:woohoo: . If I go to Nick Hotel I probaly wont go to Disney because Nick Hotel seems like it's a vacation in itself and my kids will not mind at all. They would LOVE Nick Hotel.... so game on...time to save and yikes.....DRIVE :scared1::eek::sick:

No way I would travel that far for the Nick Hotel. We stayed on night before we hit disney and my DD did all she wanted to do in that two half days and one night. In my opinion not worth a flight down just for the hotel.

We just got back from a trip to Orlando including one night at the Nick hotel. We were there one night and it was plenty. We did all the activities, went to the pool both days and ate on property. If you are doing Disney or other theme parks, the Nick hotel is kind of pointless for the price (including $25 a day resort fee). But for one night, we really enjoyed ourselves!

We stayed there two nights last a few years back.

The palce Got old real fast.

The pool was fun for the kids but how many times can you get slimed??

The rooms are tiny and nothing special .
The food is comparable to Burger King on agood day.

I would reccomend it for one or two nights but no more.Jus tso you can say been there done that.
There are some realy cheap rates there for a reason.

The kids had zero desire to go back .

Also by 2012, your kids may have moved on from the nick characters and have another new 'favorite'... maybe even disney movies, so you can just skip the nick hotel and do disney!

But if you want to do it, I would see if you can combine with a disney trip as a bit chunk of any trip will be the flight and it seems far to go for just a couple of nights.

:laughing:Disneymama: I am at the Nick Hotel right this very second! I did exactly what you asked about doing-I drove 1300 miles just to come to the Nick HOtel. My kids are 5 (ds) 11(ds) and 12(dd). We are having a great time. Originally I was going to stay for 2 nights, but I realized driving 2days to get here, staying 2 days and then driving home for 2 days was crazy, so we stayed for 3. The kids really enjoyed and and I didn't find it very expensive. I got a deal of $89 on travel zoo, then the resort fee of $84.xx, but a ton of stuff is included. The food, ehhh, not much of a selection. But not terribly expensive either. We did the regular breakfast buffet and for the 4 of us it was only about $38.xx. The kids are asking to go back for that.

So, would I do it again? Just for the NIck Hotel? No. We went to TYpoon Lagoon today, but only because I wanted to. The kids wanted to stay here but I knew they would be looking for something else to do towards the end of the day. We also did Downtown DIsney twice.

[If you have any other questions feel free to pm me

I have no desire to go back to the Nick hotel. I certainly would not make a special trip just to go there. I thought the rooms were dirty, the food was icky, and the activities nothing special. The novelty of it is exciting for the kids but for the price we can find something else to do that we all enjoy.

My children loved the Nick hotel when we went 2 years ago. They wished we would have stayed there instead of at POP century (we did 2 nights at Nick).

Someone said the rooms are small. Compared to a Disney room, they are huge. Most rooms are 2 bedrooms. Granted, the bedrooms are small. There is not much room to do anything but sleep and store your clothes, but you also have the living room and the wet bar/kitchenette area too.

It is loud there. After all, there is a waterpark right outside your door.

We did the breakfast buffet, it was fine and not horribly expensive.

It is cheaper than a Disney Deluxe hotel room.

That all being said, we have actually thought about driving down for one night/2 days for the kids, but we are only 7 hours driving away. If we could get that really cheap $89 or $99, we might do it for a 3 day weekend or something this summer. My kids absolutely loved it. As an adult, 2 or 3 days is plenty to stomach, and then move on.

We did the Nick Hotel last August...the week after FL kids were back in school. Travel Zoo had a great rate. I think it was about $500 for 3 nights (with the resort fee and the additional $25 per night to have a SpongeBob 2 BR). We figured if we were doing Nick, we would pay the extra for Spongebob since it is the fave of all 3 of the boys (ages 1 1/2, 5 1/2 and 8 at the time). After 3 nights, we switched to a condo near to the parks. 3 nights was enough for all of us. It was fun, but not as relaxing as a 2BR DVC resort or a condo due to its small living space and 1 bathroom.

We spent the first day and the last day in the pools at the hotel. We did the birthday party (if you travel within 30 days of your BDay you can attend) since it was free. Many of the other activities have a $50 fee with them. Our youngest got a huge kick out of meeting Blue at his Thinking Chair, Diego and Dora, Patrick and Spongebob at the meet-n-greet locations. We only ate at the character breakfast. THe choices were not that great but the characters were a lot of fun. We usually ate breakfast in our room thanks to the microwave and fridge. We would grab dinner out and reheat the leftovers for late night snacks. We visited IOA/UO and SeaWorld as well as Downtown Disney (since this was a "non-Disney" trip). At the Nick Hotel, the boys had a blast on the water slides and in the pool. It was a lot more crowded on the weekends than during the week. The bigger boys were excited to have a TV in their room and the bunk beds with lights (they made forts and had their light on inside their fort each night).

Our room was right outside the door to the main pool gate, so it was loud as soon as 8 am rolled around and the music started to play. However, it was convenient to be able to run back for something forgotten.
