What are you going to do at a concert anyway? If your kid smokes pot, they smoke pot. You may stop them from smoking at the concert but they're smoking it some other time.

OP I re-read your post and noticed YOU have never been to a concert? You can always check it out and leave if you feel uncomfortable. You can just stay for the opening person and then go after that.

Nope. I lived a deprived childhood and starting having babies wayyyy too young. Then it was a matter of couldn't afford to go and pay a baby sitter. If you know just starting out military pay you understand We are very far off from that kind of pay now thank god. My dh has permanent hearing damage from all the heavy metal concerts he went to as a teenager.

I had to giggle at the chaining me to my seats thing. I just kinda meant was that rude to just up and leave after the first act. I think we might just do that. I don't know. He got the tickets and they are really great seats so either we will go and leave early or we will gift the neighbors.

I didn't think Britney was appropriate but dh who is usually the overprotective one saying yes made me pause and ask for opinions. Thank you for being honest with me. I had a feeling she wasn't so tame!

You can indeed do that, I've known many people who go to pay just to see the support instead of the headliner. But I've never been to a well known artists (except Meat Loaf) concert so it could be different to artists I've seen

Seeing that video I would be abit "hhhmm" about taking someone younger to a concert like that (but some of the artists I've seen mix fetish performance or Burlesque in with their concerts). But I think Britney has tried to mature with her audience as she's been going since the 90's)

I think if you know your daughter likes her and would want to see her then sure why not, I mean theres worse out there to be truthful.

You have to understand how much I can't stand her in general. My dh was laughing at me when he found out I like the song. (not because I like it but because he knows I don't like her. )

The concert (if it's the Circus concert) opens like a circus then in goes into some bondage type thing-not for kids. If Kelly opens up take them to see her then leave before Britney comes on. But honestly if the concert is at night (like most are) your kids will be tired and cranky and it will be loud. They probably wouldn't enjoy it.

My DD9 has been to several concerts: Hillary Duff, Back Street Boys, Riverdance and Lord of the Dance -- those were great events for her.

IMO, there are some Britney videos that I wouldn't let my 9 yo watch -- which is why I would probably take her to see Jordan Sparks only if I took her at all. She likes Britney, but she hasn't seen all of Britney and doesn't need to.

Bolding is mine..I dont know what the age of a singer has to do with the age of the fans. A few weeks ago, me, DD10, my cousin and her BF , went to the Cheap Trick, Def Leppard, and Poison concert. DD10 listens to their music, and she was one of the youngest there. Besides 1 curse word that was it. She had a BLAST, I had a blast and we really enjoyed our time together.

OP They are old enough for concerts (DD's first concert was at 3) but BS may be a little graphic.

Maybe you could just take them to see Kelly Clarkson and then leave. The tickets are free afterall. I saw someone said that. I think that is a great idea. I have done it myself before. I went to one of those Lincoln park tours. I stayed for the first 30 minutes to see my favorite band at the time and then left. Everyone thought I was nuts, but it was great.
