Would you spend a night at MK doing Xmas Party during US trip?

We are hoping to go to Royal Pacific Dec 17-20. (Early morning arrival and late night flight out) Would it be crazy to try and go to Xmas party at MK for an evening? Never been and my daughter was asking if we could go to MK for a day. Tickets would be $500 for the five of us:scared1: Unless someone knows of any deals on their tickets????

I guess you could- were doing MNSSHP for our UO trip next weekend and not doing any Disney park tickets (also doing the free animal kingdom event).

Personally, though- I prefer universal Christmas stuff. The Macy's parade is likely my favorite parade at any park year round, you get a fantastic 30-40 minute theatrical grinch show, and you get a Mannheim steamroller concert.
Did I mention it was all free and no up charge events? :)

We are doing the same thing, staying at WDW first night then switching to SF,so excited.

What is the free AK event?

Sorry- meant to say "DVC Animal Kingdom Event". Similar to Typhoon lagoon or MK events earlier this year. Tuesday night is when we are going- I'm doing SF over the weekend for 4 nights then 3 nights at Kidani (only bought MNSSHP tix) :D

I don't see why not. I'm doing Disney's Halloween party on both of my fall trips. It's a way to get a little bit of Disney magic while on the dark side.

P.S. I did the Christmas party last fall and loved it.

Does anyone know if the December 18 sells out real early? It's a Sunday. I Think that's our only option during our short stay. Think I'm going to keep it a surprise for the kids. We haven't been to Disney for the last four years. Except my one daughter has been there for her senior trip

Last year the party closest to Christmas sold out on November 20.

However, last year the Halloween party on 10/31 sold out at the beginning of August, but is still not sold out this year so you can take that for what it is worth.

We did the Pirates party at WDW once when we stayed at Universal. We did not stay at WDW for that night and found it just fine to come back to Uni after the party was over.

As soon as we book our flight I would buy the tickets. Just didn't want to get excited about it and then go to buy the tickets in a few weeks and have them already sold out. Also Have to wait until my husband sees a doctor about his knee. A few years ago he tore the meniscus in his right knee and had to have it repaired. Pretty sure he's torn the left one now too. It was bothering him a lot when we were at Universal few weeks back and it's gotten worse since then:(

I can feel his pain

I tore my right knee meniscus in half 5 years ago and after surgery went thru 5 months of pt

Hope he did not read the other one!

His right one (already fixed is fine) it's his left knee this time. He does a lot of physical work outdoors so it is now affecting his job. Last time he was out of work for months on end with physical therapy after the surgery. He works his butt off, sometimes working 70 hours a week. If he's out of work that means no overtime:( and we would def have to skip Xmas party as that wasn't a trip expense we were counting on. Have any of you gotten an AP discount on your rooms during that week in Dec? Right now the room is showing avg price of $339 for two queen standard. I would need a cheaper room to afford to take the kids back so soon after we just visited. The $169 rate we just had would be wonderful!!:worship:

Going to MK for a day and going for the party are two different things. I would find out from her what she really means.

It's simple enough during December to spend the day at Uni and spend the evening at WDW. Uni closes early during December, and then your party tickets have traditionally gotten people in at 4pm (Halloween and Xmas parties). So you can leave Uni a bit early and head on over.

But if your daughter truly means *day*, then the party not be what she's meaning.

Party tickets are expensive. One-day tickets to almost anywhere are expensive. So even without the "is this crazy" thought, or worrying about how you'll get there etc, figure out if you want to do the party, or if you want to spend a day at MK. Once you work that out, you can go on to the how question.

Last year we did just the halloween party @ MK and that gave us our fill of Disney that trip. granted we are experienced Disney goers and no what we wanted to see and do, and accomplished all during the party and saw the parade. We ate prior to the party and arrived right at 4. We had booked a fast pass or 2 between 4-7, and went about our day. It was slightly cheaper for us to do the party verses paying for a full day ticket, but again we knew we could work with our limited time frame

Going to the party from 4-12 would be plenty of time to do what we would like. My girls are all teenagers so they are not into the meet and greets and dance shows. They would mainly be interested in the rides, seeing the parade, holiday Wishes and the Xmas decorations. Plus if we could fast pass a few rides between 4-7 we should have plenty of time to enjoy everything

Guess I answered my own question:rotfl2: As long as my husband does not have to go out of work for a few months for surgery/physical therapy, then we will go to the Xmas party. :santa:

We are staying at Universal, but our first full day after we arrive, we are going to MVMCP. Then the rest of our 7 day stay will be at Universal. We hired a private car service to take us and pick us up.

When we went for a long weekend a few years ago, we stayed at Cabana Bay and went to MVMCP on our last night. We drove over around 3 ish, enjoyed the party (mostly there for rides not party stuff) and drove back to CB. The drive back was really easy that late at night. Very little traffic.

We won't have a car. Do you just call Uber or a taxi to get back-and-forth? I know I can call one from the Royal Pacific to get us over to Disney but I wasn't sure leaving Disney late at night where would I find one ?

We did this last year with MNSSHP. It worked out great for us - cheaper than a one day ticket and we got to see all of the special decorations. Be sure to get there right at 4 to get the most "value".

You can taxi/uber from MK. You have to take the monorail to the TTC and then there will be cabs (and possibly ubers) waiting. You could also monorail to a resort and catch one from there depending on your preference.
