I'm wondering what your opinion might be of the following sail dates for a 4-night cruise....

February 5, 2006

August 27, 2006

September 3, 2006

Month of October, 2006

Of course $$ is always an issue, but the above sailings have the lowest rates for an oceanview cabin....

Any opinions or advice would be much appreciated for this beginning cruiser!

Thanks!

Feb. is best choice. Should be cold at home and warm in Caribbean!
Aug.-Oct. is hurricane season and you risk changes because of it.
We took our first cruise the last week of Oct. last year. We could not go to Gr. Cayman nor Princess' private island due to hurricane damage. They subbed Costa Maya MX and a sea day, so we got a small refund for port fees.
We will probably always cruise that week. As teachers we get that week off...and the rates are far better then than summer or March (spring breaks).
So either way, you will do OK. But if rates are the same and time off isn't an issue, go w/ Feb. to avoid changes!
Happy cruising!
Kris
Star Princess 10/24/04
Magic 12/24/05

I'd take the Feb cruise if I were you. The weather will be milder, plus you won't be in hurricane season.

August you are almost guaranteed hot weather. Feb, the weather can be iffey.

Personally I would say yes to any of them.

Sailed in early Feb. '03. Weather was perfect. Water at Castaway Cay was a little too cool for my taste.

Sailing this September 4th! Hoping for great weather.

Our first cruise was in October of '99. Weather was great but we missed going to Castaway Cay due to hurricane damage.

Each date has its good and bad points but I wouldn't hesitate to sail on any of those dates.

We sailed in the first week of Sept. last year and had hurricaine issues causing the cruise to be moved a few days; not a big deal.

Per the Passporter, Jan. and Feb. are the months that you are most likely to have a Castaway Cay day where the ship is not able to dock.

I think, all in all, there are pros and cons to each. I would probably go with October, but playing the odds you are really unlikely to have problems no matter what date you cruise.

:goodvibes Oh honey, just let me know, and I would sail on ANY of these dates.. :cool1:

Although we did have one VERY VERY cool February sailing, and I think we really had bad luck, as on the weather network, every day after was gorgeous and sunny..

I think I would "pick" September, as it right before our dreaded winter, and right after summer, so it is lovely..

I have cruised around the same time in August you are looking at. We will be cruising again in 2 weeks. It is very hot in August/September time frame.

We have been on 2 cruises in October. I love October. I think the weather is perfect.

We cruise next year in November.

We are going in Feb. Took a cruise last Feb and the weather was great. My second pick is for Oct. Good luck making your decision

We have sailed in September about that time, and the weather was great. It is hurricane season, but we had no problems. We would definitely sail in September again!
