We are staying 10 nights total.....we'd need a car for 11 days! Would that cost us an arm and a leg??

We've always had a towncar pick us up on all our other trips.

It depends on what you plan to do. If you plan on staying at WDW the whole time, then use Tiffany and take Disney Transportation. If you are staying offsite or want to venture offsite, then get a car. We always get a car, we like to go to the outlets and have the freedom of coming and going as we please.

I have found that this year the prices for rental cars are outragious! We are going around the same time of the year as last year and for the same size car for the same amount of days (full size 14 days), I am getting quotes for almost $200 more than we paid last year. I like the freedom of having my own vehicle, but I am not going to pay those high prices this year. You may want to check out PamOKW's post below about rental car prices currently.

Thanks for the replies AZKathy and Debbie. I guess I should have explained more.

We are splitting our trip between WDW and Universal and I thought it might be easier to have our own car. Also, I thought it might be cheaper on the Food Budget if we could get offsite occasionally to eat.

Hi Kitty,

Yes, Yes, Yes, imho, having a car allows YOU to be in control of your vacation.

I have always rented a car because we like to go to other places besides disney. Like you, wer usually split off/site on/site. We like to go to Universal, too.

You are also going to be Orlando for a long time. Having a car gives you freedom to eat off site, drive to other parks without worrying about shuttles or other transportaion, gives you peace of mind should someone get sick You need a drugstore). allows you to buy a few groceries during your stay. A car allows you flexibility should you decide to check out say the town of Delebration or other parts of Orlando.

I have never regretted having a car. Yes, prices have gone up this year, but check out mousesavers.com for codes. and check out Dollar and National at the airport onsite for best service. L and M is probably going to be cheapest onsite at the apirt., but there is mixed reviews about this service.

PM me if you have more questions. There are also coupons in the ent. book. Herc.

If you plan on going off site that much, then YES, get a rental car!
This last trip we had a renta; for a few days and DH hated it. For us, we want to RELAX and ENJOY, so no more rental cars for us. ;)
I think some of things DH likes about WDW best is no driving and the great food.

YES YES YES! We have always rented a car, and are so glad we did! :) They are expensive at times (especially anything over a full size). Just do some price checks, and book what you think you'll need. :)
