I had rather have a great room only rate.

I totally agree.... a GREAT room rate!

Yep,great room rate, we had the free dining plan last Sept. and it was great to be able to try all the different restaurants but it was just way more food than we would have eaten otherwise.

Paid rack rate for a value (1st time at a value BTW was fine) and got free dining. Saved us well over $1000.00. Don't think a better room rate would have even saved me half that much!

Free dining, absolutely! Four nights at Pop, with a one-day park pass, cost me $400 last year. By planning ahead I ended up eating just over $240 of food, so my effective room rate was $40 per night, with tax!

Free dining. We can't really afford the restaurants. When we do eat at Chefs de France for example (no luck this past trip-- no ADRs), we just get soup (or soup and salad) and dessert. Otherwise all of our meals are CS, aside from Planet Hollywood and Rainforest Cafe. Breakfast is muffins, PopTarts, and the like in our room (and juice). A character dinner is out of the question, and 1 character breakfast (the first time in what'll be 8 trips) is going to be bad enough on us. I was really miserable after my trip when the free dining offer came out. I had time off when it was available, so I could've gone then and tried all the restaurants I've wanted to try for years. :worried: On my last trip, my meals came from: Roaring Forks (fast food in WL), Main Street Bakery, Cosmic Ray's, Pecos Bill's; The Land food court, Kringla Bakery in Norway, the hot dog stand in MGM near Fantasmic, ABC Commissary, Pizzafarri in AK, Rainforest Cafe in DTD (3 & 1/2 hr wait! :scared1: ), Planet Hollywood, and the food area in Sea World near Shamu Stadium and the Clydesdales. What I wouldn't have given for some *real* food. One can only take so many sandwiches, wraps, pizzas, and hot dogs. :crazy2:

Oh well, c'est la vie. Some people can't even afford to go to WDW period, so I'm not complaining (at least, not too much :rotfl: ). :goodvibes

free dining anyday! I gave up a TA rate on a room to get the free dining package last fall. It was worth every cent I gave up on the room!!!

I'd rather have a great room rate. We make a few PS but don't want to have to be tied down every day to meal locations and times, plus it's way too much food for my family.

I think it would depend on the room & your situation.

I gave up the AP rate for WL this Christmas & got dining--saved us a TON of $$. We went into the park the night we got there & were in the parks everyday--even went to DTD the day our flight left. So the savings were well worth it (even the 12 snacks we bought at DTD to bring home to others-LOL)

This July I have an AWESOME (group) RATE for AKL concierge & I don't think that the $$ we are saving with the rate would come near the dining plan savings. (and we are also not planning on going into the parks everyday--and venturing over to Universal & maybe Sea World as well-- so for us, the dining plan won't work this trip)

Free dining all the way, we are all foodies here! WE got the free dining last August and ate everywhere we have ever dreamed of! It was our first trip, and it was so memorable that 5 months later (now) Hubby is trying to plan another trip for jsut the two of us

Without a doubt the free dining. If the dining was taken off our ressie we could afford to stay at a deluxe. I know it is a pipe dream, but it would be INCREDIBLE!!!

Great room rate. DH and DD are pretty basic eaters and I don't think a dining package would suit us. We're also not big into PS's, which cuts out many of the sit down meals for us.

I agree with Dh and 2 teenage DS's food is everything. If we were able to get the food for free it would save us anywhere between $880 and $1060 for our entire stay. Since we are staying at a mod I don't see how a great room rate would save us more. However, I think once you move to deluxe resorts it changes the math significantly. :flower2:

Definitely Dining! I hate having to carry all that $$ or credit cards to the park just to get meals and it runs up so expensive. I personally think it eleviates a lot of my stress... :earsboy:

We paid for the dining plan for this coming vaca, and wha a difference in price when I added it :scared1: There are 5 of us going and I know it'll be WELL worth it...

Almost time for the :sunny: woohoo
