i personally would rather go on nye because any time at wdw is better than none.

but my friend who went last year said it was absolutely horrible and he would never do it again.

whats your opinion?

Anytime at WDW is better than not going!!

Doing it again this year! Went 2 years ago and yes.. it was HORRIBLE!! BUT I have learned from my mistakes.. now I know what NOT to do... I have to just plan better... and eat earlier... dealing with crowds when you are hungry just equals a cranky impatient person!! LOL!! So.. now I know what I Should do.. and I willl be trying that out this year.. I'll let you know if I will be doing again after this year!! LOL!!

Just normally crowded days at WDW aren't much fun for me in the parks, to say nothing of NYE. I guess if you just want to experience it, and don't care about actually doing anything inside the parks on NYE, it would probably be fine. But milling around in a huge crowd simply because it's NYE doesn't do it for me. I'll pass and let someone else have my spot.

Happy New Year!

My thoughts exactly

I wish I could be there again this year. I was at MGM last NYE and really loved it. The atmosphere is so great and I didn't mind the crowds at all.

In the past I might have voted for staying home, but I experienced WDW on the 4th of July this year, which I also never thought I'd do, and with the right plan, it was really fun! So, who knows - maybe sometime I will ring in the New Year there. (Besides, if you're gonna put that "or not go at all" tag on the question, well, *anything* has to be better than that!)

We went two years ago to Epcot and it was one of my best Epcot experiences ever. I LOVED it. I'm also 19 and don't mind crowds and don't get cranky about long waits, so . . . take it for what it's worth.

Tough question, I am leaning towards saying I'd rather not go at all though. On the other hand, I would like to experience NYE at Disney World maybe just once. Then again, I've always said I wouldn't go to Disney during any very high peak time if it were free and I don't even go out on NYE at home because of crowds so maybe not. :confused3

I've never been to Disney during a peak or holiday time, I always go during slower periods. It doesn't have to be empty or anything, but I HATE going anywhere that is so crowded that you can't move or when, for example, just to get up Main Street at more than a crawl. Just not fun for me. When I go to Disney, I really get into the whole experience of it and to me that would next to impossible to do with wall to wall people.

If I lived just a short drive away, I would love to spend NYE at WDW. If it was meant to be a vacation with lots of attractions, dinners, shows, etc., I'd wait a week and go during the slow time. :earsboy:

Personally, if I am going to be standing around doing a lot of waiting, I would rather be in the comfort of my own home.

And I will agree with you 100%!! Even as a passholder and not having to pay the almost $60.00 nothing to me is magical about milling around with way to many people and listening to a lot of tired kids and adults!I want to enjoy the park........so heres another spot for somebody! I guess if that is the only time you can be there it's better than nothing but personally I wouldn't spend the money to just people and firework watch.

DH and I were at the MK last New Year's Eve and had the absolute time of our lives. We can't wait until the kiddos are over stroller age so we can share this experience with them. Until then, we're contemplating squeezing another adults-only trip in next year. WDW is wonderful during the holidays! :goodvibes

thanks guys for the replies!
i also needed these because we MIGHT be planning a NYE trip next year....crossing my fingers....

This is my decision next year. I'll be celebrating a significant birthday on Jan. 3rd '07, and yet I want to be in WDW, it can't be right after that day because I teach. DH doesn't want to go for NYE, but I do!!!!

We went to WDW for New Year's Eve in 99/2000. That was SUCH A NIGHTMARE! We were in Epcot for NYE (around 10 of us) and there was such a horrible bottleneck in World Showcase that night because ABC was there. It was terrible. I still have nightmares, and as far as I'm concerned I'd rather spend any NYE all snug and warm in my bed.
