Would you postpone your trip if the resort you had your heart set on is closed during the time you planned your trip?

Here is my situation:

My dd is 9 and has been to WDW three times already. My ds is 3 and has been twice. That's a great track record of WDW trips for their age.

We planned to return to WDW in about a year, April 2004, when the kids are 10 and 4. We really had our hearts set on 2 nights at the beach, 4 nights at Port Orleans and 4 nights at a deluxe (hadn't picked one yet, waiting for codes). Now that POFQ will close for 2 years and PORS will be under construction, my first instinct is to wait until PO is completed ~ nice and shining and new!

I am not married to the idea of returning to WDW ASAP. I am not attached to April 2004.

Should I go with my gut and postpone the trip until POFQ opens?

THANKS Sandra

If you want to go the a Newly refurbished resort than you should wait.

However, there are many fabulous resorts on property...If I were you I would use this as an excuse to try another one out..JMO.

Good Luck

I would postpone. It sounds like the PO is just as important a part of your vacation as anything else, and since it really wouldn't matter to you if you went next year or not, I would postpone and wait for the barnd spanking new refurbishments and that truly magical vacation! :)

I think I would use this as an excuse to try out another resort. :D

FWIW, I don't get switching resorts so many times. If it was me, I would not be "married" to the idea of one resort. POFQ is my favorite moderate, but I'd stay somewhere else if it wasn't open. Why not try to rent someone's DVC points and stay for the entire trip at a deluxe? You may wind up spending less than what you suggested.

My best friend's mom taught me that do what you can, when you can, because you don't know what tomorrow will bring. She and her DH never went anywhere other than the Jersey shore for vacations. They planned to travel after their kids were out of school. He died when my friend was in her 2nd year of medical school, so her Mom has to travel alone or with her kids now. She regrets this very much.

a good excuse to try one of the other resorts(maybe there's a code for one of the nicer ones out there:) )

I would try another resort too!! Good excuse, and there are definately so many awesome resorts in WDW.

I wouldn't wait, I don't know if I may be alive in 2 years from now. I would switch to another resort and still be a happy camper and then maybe in 2 years plan another trip staying at the resort you wanted.
Heck, I really want to stay at the GF concierge but I have to settle for something else instead, LOL.
