Has the shortest stay at the end of your trip?
ie: 10 day trip where you spend the first 6-7 days at BCV then the last 3 at BLT for example. Does anyone do this on purpose? We have always done it where it would be a couple days at the first resort then a week at somewhere else. I understand sometimes a late booking or waitlist situation would result in this but..... anyone plan on this and how was it?:goodvibes

I actually have our next trip planned this way. We will be staying 5 nights at Akv in a 1 bdrm and then heading to BLT for 3 nights in a 2 bdrm. The biggest reason for this is to check out both resorts. Also my parents will be joining us for the last 3 days so we will need a 2 bedroom. We also hope to catch the first MVMCP and thought it would be great to be so close to the park because the kids are always exhausted after the late night parties:goodvibes

We have an 8 day trip planned and split between AKV and BLT. 4 days relaxing at AKV and 4 days at the parks while at BLT.

That was our reasoning as well I don't think the wife will go for it.;)

Anyone with other experiences.:goodvibes

We are 7 nights a BLT, then 2 nights at AKL Jambo...love both resorts and want to stay at both!

Actually before that we have 3 nights at BCV, then a 4 night Disney...we move lots!

We sometimes add a day at the front of our vacay so we're not using so many points on a weekend.

I also like to switch for the last night or two if we get the DDP. That way, we can use the DDP the last day we are actually there (the day people checkout and go home).

All of that moving in one trip to the world?:confused3

That would be sooooooooo:goodvibes cool to do. Relax or go to the park close by, Heck, watch Sunday Night Football at the ESPN CLUB!! popcorn::

We are doing 3 BCV nights and then 3 BLT nights this summer. This was by choice.

We did a 7 day split last year between 3 resorts--BWV, BLT, and VWL. That was a bit much and probably not something I would do again.

But, I will always do the two resorts as we enjoy feeling as if we are going on a new trip.

So, yes, I would do a 10 day split that way.

Good luck!

We just got home from a split stay, 3 days BLT and 5 days BCV. I much prefer the longer stay last because we pretty much lived out of the suitcase for the first 3 days, just not long enough to feel like you can unpack. Then the longer stay you feel more like home and you can settle in more, and unpack everything. I loved it! Best of two worlds.

We have done this several times and actually prefer it if we have ordered or bought groceries. The main reason is that if the longer stay is on the front end, before we move to the 2nd resort, we know/remember what needs to be used before we leave from the 2nd stay.

For example - we had a package of bacon, some eggs, butter, 1/2 loaf of bread, some lunchmeat enough for a couple of sandwiches, a few other items, etc left when we moved once from our week stay at SSR to a 3 day stay at WLV. We used almost every perishable item on that particular trip, almost completely...milk and juices included. We had little to no waste.

We had another 5 and 3 trip and pretty much had the same result (though not as well as the 7 and 3).

I really want to try a split stay! Do most of you agree you need at least 7 nights to do a split stay? I have BLT booked for 5 ni in Dec and really wanted at the 7 month window to try to get BWV, BCV or AKV for the 1st 2 nights then move over the last 3 but I just do not know if it is worth it. We are going with another couple leaving DD's at home. We are also returning in Feb with DD's and staying sat BLT for 6 nights. There are just so many resorts I want to try out and what seems like so little time! lol

When we do split stays, we prefer to have the longer one at the end. It means less repacking if we have our shorter stay on the front side. We leave most of the stuff in our OL, and don't really unpack it until we get to our second longer destination. Our trips are usually 10 nights or more though. When we do a split stay, it's usually a couple of nights at concierge level at AKV before a week or more at OKW. We don't need so much of the OL stuff at concierge, so no need to unpack it until we get to OKW.

We roll the same way. :)

Whenever we arrive on a Saturday we will book a studio room and then switch the following day into a bigger room. This is usually done at the same resort, but not always. This June we are staying at AKV for the first five days and BLT for the next 3. I think I would prefer the shorter stay in the beginning, but we managed to get CL at AKV for the first time and didn't want to give it up. We tried to do it the entire stay, but they didn't have the availability. We figured if we have to change rooms we may as well change resorts.

We have a 17 day trip planned.

We are at BCV 3 days prior to our cruise 10/14 -10/17. 10/17 through 10/21 is our 4 day Disney Cruise on the Wonder. Then we are renting a car and driving from Port Canaveral to the World for 7 nights, 10/21 through 10/28 at BLT. Our last two nights are at AKL 10/28 through 10/30. Then we fly home on 10/30 in the evening.

We are new members (closed week and half ago) and DH and I are going in Oct. to celebrate his 40th Birthday and run the 1/2 marathon. Orginally we had a 1 Bdrm booked at AKV for all 5 nights. I called on Sunday and was able to bet the last 2 nights in a garden/pool studio at BWV. He told me last night he wants to keep it the way it is and try both resorts. Relax first at AKV and get ready for the race, and then be at BWV to enjoy F&W. I'm looking forward to it, but then again it is just the two of us without all our boys and we'll each just have a carry-on. Just excited to be going there as DVC members!:goodvibes

I don't like split stays but when I have to change reservations which was the case for June sonetimes you have no choice. So rather than cut a vacation short I would do a split stay. I really only prefer to pack and unpack once! In November we're doing one night at BLT, 2br MK view, just to experience it once, points to rich for my blood then it's off to OKW for the rest of the stay!

DH and I are doing a short 4 night trip in October for F&W and MNSSHP we have it booked with BCV for 3 nights then BWV for the last night we knew we really wanted to try both resorts for F&W and were excited to get this split, as we figured we would want more days at SAB. Since it is just DH and I we decided it would be easy to leave BCV early in the AM with our stuff and check into BWV leaving our luggage with the resort then hop on a bus to AK for the morning!!!!
