If you could only pick one, and would not be back in WDW for two years, which one would you do?

They are two different things. Are you looking in terms of Fastpass? I would FP Navi River Journey and maybe looking into a dining package for Rivers of Light. The dining packages are actually reasonably priced for such a thing.

I have a dining package for it. Tusker House Breakfast.
Then I have a 8:25 pm FP for FoP. This FP time is killing my day lol, but I'm glad to have it.

So I either - watch RoL at 8:45 and head quickly to use the FoP fastpass.
Or - blow off RoL and do FoP at 8:25. Then get in standby line for NRJ.

Thanks for the input everyone. I also may try rope drop for NRJ but we have a late night the day before! And I have two teenagers.

You can enter the FoP FP line at 8:20, ride it, then be at RoL before the 8:45 start time. You'd be running close but you'll like still be fine getting a seat with the dining option

Or you have until 9:40 to make your FoP FP

I would recommend this.

I haven't done Navi yet but that's what I would go with. ROL was one of the most boring things I've ever seen. I'd do Winnie the Pooh & Country Bear before I'd do ROL again.

Definitely an option, but as CAS239 said, you'd really be cutting it close.

If I had to only pick one, no question I'd pick NRJ. RoL is just "OK".

I put it alongside Country Bear also. Amazingly, I had some friends from CA visit during a meeting in Orlando, and she thought River of Light was better than California Adventures World Of Color. I was able to see that last year, and it blew me away. Just shows that everyone needs to experience it for themselves. I know from watching a special on TV, that from our seats, we did not see the screens the way they showed them on the show. Either the screens are not working all the time, or we had an awful seat - which we took 30 minutes early in the FP area.

I personally would pick Rivers of Light. That is now my favorite night show (well after Wishes RIP). My whole family thought the Na'vi River Journey was boring and would probably only go on it again if it had less than a 10 min wait.

Neither?! Na-vi River was pretty but just a boring boat ride. ROL was different but not that amazing. We did both this trip since they were new. Glad we tried them but wouldn't have to do them again.

If you FP Na-Vi and do all the FP's in the morning, you can most likely get a FP for ROL as a 4th, 5th or 6th FP.
I was able to get extra FPs for everything this past week - except for FoP. I got extra FPs for Na-Vi, RnRC, Soarin, TT, GMR, TSM and a bunch of others. I was really shocked ... if you keep refreshing the app, almost everything will come up ... even if it says nothing more available, when you refresh you'll see that things are available. The only thing I spent more than 15 minutes waiting for was FoP.
As soon as I scanned my MB for a ride, I'd start checking for another one while on line.

My FoP fast pass is 8:25 pm. I can't look for any other fastpasses all day because of it. It's messing with my whole day, but I'm stuck with it unless some miracle happens and I can modify it to morning or afternoon. I'm checking often!

Thanks for the help folks. Lots of different opinions! I'll explain the options to my family and let them vote : )

If you can get up super early, you can do FoP quickly without a FP. I did one ak day where I was at the rope when they started letting people in ... left my room at 7:15, was the first person to scan into the park. Then I was about 8 people deep at the Pandora rope (letting all the frantic people run past me). I walked onto FoP and then got back in line. By 10 am I had ridden twice.

I think it's just the ROL show itself. ROL looked awful from where we sat too and we had a manager sit us in "the best seats" (long story there). The ROL water screens are very muddled looking. Overall, we thought that show was pretty bad and boring. You'd think ROL would at least LOOK as good as World of Color, but we also found it did not. I know the story can always be changed, in fact I think they will retool ROL at some point, but if the technology isn't as good at AK as it is at CA, my question is why?

Since I haven't done this yet, Navi. I think if I had done both I'd probably go with ROL though
