I have a pin so with the package it is $2000 for the whole trip. The package include the dining plan. It is not about weather or not I can afford it, its more about is that a ridiclous amount of money for a short visit? I don't know why I am having a hard time deciding this. I need to make up my mind because we are leaving September 2nd if we go. I am a little worried about the heat as well. We are going somewhere and we need to decide today!

We live in Virginia, so we always drive.

But I'm guessing in Michigan, most people fly. My considerations would be:

How close is the $400 to a "really good rate"?
Have I been on vacation this year?
Has this been a really tough year, which makes the vacation more important than usual?
Will I be going back anytime in the next year?

We have DVC, and have for many years. So we drive down once a year when the kids are out of school. I'm really out of the loop on pricing WDW trips. $2000.00 including hotel, food, and tix sounds pretty good. It's hot when we go, and hot in September, so the heat wouldn't be any type of deal killer.

i always break it down by an hourly rate. take all the money the trip will cost divide it by the hours of pure fun you and your family will have and the smiles you will get and if the hourly wage fits your time vs money then i would say go for it. But i would look at other sites for a cheeper ticket like priceline or southwest.

It has been a horrible 2 months for me, which is why we are going somewhere. My mom passed away last month, 2 weeks before my sons destination wedding. The stress of both things have me on edge. Beautiful wedding but the resort was a nightmare to deal with. DH does not want to go to WDW. (He must have a death wish LOL) I am trying to convince him as we speak. Help me!

See, you have just answered your own question. Sometimes you just have a really difficult stretch, and need a break so much more than usual. Have fun on your trip!!

After all that you've been through if you can swing it with no problem. If it were me/us....I'd go for it. Go to get away, clear the mind, take a deep breath and come back with a clear mind. I always say.....go with your gut feeling. God Bless

I would do it in a heartbeat. It sounds like you need a break from reality. It does make me nervous for you though that you are trying to talk your husband into it. Hopefully he isn't the type to complain the entire time you are there. Maybe you can go with a friend who enjoys Disney??

We are spending over $900 for airfare for the three of us to go visit relatives for 3 days for Thanksgiving. :scared1: I would be much happier spending that money on a Disney trip.

It cost almost $900 for airfare for DH, DD & I for this year's Disney trip and we'll be there for less than 5 full days. We'll arrive at the resort ~5:30pm on Wednesday and leave the resort ~1:00pm the next Monday.

DD is a freshman in high school taking several honors classes so we are going over her Fall Break.....we have to fly because we just don't have the time to drive.

But it is worth it to us. Once we get to Disney the amount we spent to get there, stay there, play there and eat there doesn't even cross our minds. We are just happy to be there. ;)

I was in a similar debate this past July with a Disneyland vacation. We decided for the money it would just be a let down to get such a short trip in. We opted to go to Universal instead as well as spend time in LA and Hollywood. Saved some money and did not have the let down feeling of only have a short stay at Disney.

We just came back from a 6 1/2 day trip and we flew and rented a car. We visited both Universal and a few Disney parks. It's not much longer so I'd say go for it if you have the money.

I had never thought of this. I always dread the thought of how much we pay to go to WDW. It roughly costs us 6000 (food, resort, tix and airfare) for all 5 of us. That ends up costing about 172.00 per day per person. I divided up by 12 hours a day of touring the parks and resorts which equals 14.00 per hour. Definately worth it and breaking it down seems a lot more managable that looking that 6K in the face.

We do this too! With a ton of stuff. Only we compare it to how much we both make an hour and decide, basically, if we'd be willing to work that long to do whatever it is we're trying to do or buy.

so 2K gets you food, hotel, transport, airfare, tix, 4.5 days of DISNEY :lovestruc
, only you can decide, but IF you can afford it....;)
there is another thread, someone spending 3K for 2 nights on a disney cruise, to me....THATS crazy,
but ya know, I guess its all about what works for your family!
Good Luck deciding!

Well, I did it. Its all bought and paid for, $1895.18 staying at CSR with a king bed water view. I even saved $150 by getting air fare through WDW!! I was shocked. It was the exact flights on airtran that I was going to buy. I am also getting the free memory book. DH would never complain about being in WDW. It was not his first choice, but he is fine with it. I am now having buyers remorse. I don't know why? I paid cash for the trip and my bills are paid. What is wrong with me? I keep thinking about the money and money is not a problem!

I do this too. I'm always thinking that there is something more important that money should be spent on, whether it's retirement or kids or anything else other than me. I just always feel guilty spending money on me. Just keep telling yourself that you deserve the trip, you've earned it, and hopefully you'll start believeing it soon! Hope you have a great trip and are able to relax and indulge yourself! Sorry about your mom, I bet she would be proud of you for taking care of yourself!

We're paying about $900 for a family of 4's airfare for a 2 night stay. However, we're going for a specific purpose, the Family 5K on Oct. 1. So no, I don't think $400 is stupid for 4 1/2 days.

I like to stay longer to get more for my $ myself. If that was ALL the time I could get, then yes I would still do it if you can swing it. Good luck w/ your choice!:goodvibes
