I think that's a superb idea! Who would dare pass up another opportunity to see Minnie in a hula skirt!?!?!

I vote "NO".

A DVC resort should be drivable (except if a European resort is built for others near those parks). Hawaii would be wonderful for a couple of visits, but not every couple of years. There are other options to use points for those vacations.

Otherwise, capitalize on the exchange program.

I also think the Keys are too far away and would require an extra day of driving to reach. I like the idea of another DVC resort where points have a much higher value than the exchange program. Vero is wonderful, but not much tourist areas nearby. But, that's OK, the ocean, pool, Disney service and the option to combine it with a few days inside the world make it work very nicely for my family.

Also considering an add-on at Hilton Head.

Just wait a few years... Communism is almost dead and there is this Island off the tip of Florida that was once a *HUGE* tourist attraction. Once Castro is gone, the people will want to rebuild their casinos and resorts. What a time for Disney to come in and create a truly great DVC property. :smooth:

Why should Disney pay an exhorbiant price for building a resort on a tropical Island? Communism is dying. The Big Island off of the tip of Florida will need to rebuild it's already existing resorts and casinos when the old man is gone. What an oppertunity. American's have been barred from Cuba for 50 years. People are itching to get back. In 5 - 10 years we could have property in a former foe's land.

Just think about it..... hmmmmm :smooth:

That place is like a hugh museum and when the capitalist take over there will quite a charge just to get in.

I voted no because there are so many options available now via exchange. I would consider going if the tropical island was owned by the U.S. BTW this would have been the same answer prior to Sept.11, 2001.
DD has visited Northern Europe on a high school trip, but as a family we are not interested in spending money outside of the U.S. We are now considering trip to Australia for DD2.

I love Grand Cayman but have also heard great things about St. Lucia, British Virgin Islands and Turks/Caico. So I'm open to anything, but I'd also add Hawaii. It's perfect weather but a bit of a trip from the East Coast. Hey, how about both!

This shouldn't even be its own thread. I meant to reply to a post and accidentally clicked on new thread.

Sorry all.

DVC does have a cruise ship. The Wonder and Magic

Technically, it's not really a DVC resort, since it's a part of the exchange program, but point well taken.

What I'd love to see is a resort at Castaway Cay (assuming they can take care of the bug problem) and a deal where you cruise to the island, get off, and return on the next available ship. Disney could also use the old landing strip (perhaps) to fly vacationers in.

Barring that, I go with the others that said Bermuda. I couldn't think of a more perfect combination.

I would love to see a DVC resort in Jamaica. The pictures I've seen are just awesome.

I think it would be a mistake. DVC resorts should be reachable by driving from the American Continent (except maybe a future Europe resort, which would be reachable by car for those living on that continent.)

Otherwise, adding to the conciere collection is fine with me, and the hope that those point values are kept more reasonable.

What is so sacred about driving? We happen to drive to WDW but we are not opposed to getting on a plane and flying. It would just be another option that you would have the choice to visit or not to visit.

St Lucia or Antigua would be good. How about somewhere more excotic, Mauritous, Seychelles, or Thailand.

Being from the UK, a DVC resort (not in Paris) in Europe would be great!

Sacred? Well it's not sacred as much as cost prohibitive for us and may present reduced availabilty for others as well. Besides, I think this thread is fantasy anyway, it won't happen, my understanding is that DVC has sold land that in purchased outside of Disney that it intended for DVC expansion. DVC even sold land close to Disneyland, home turf!!! There should be a DVC next to Disneyland and California Advanture before any other resort is built, and that plan was given up, and sold to Marriott. Go figure.

I would love to see this happen. I am fairly new to the dvc joined in 99 and will make our first trip there in May. I just would like to see it happen where you can fly in not have to take the cruise to get there.

I would like to see a DVC in St. John's. It is beautiful and is a territory of the US.
