Would you let your DD dress as Sharpay at DHS?

Last year we bought the Aurora Dress at BBB and DD got the whole makeover. This year we are not treating her to that. However, she loves Sharpay, so I was thinking that I would buy her a Sharpay dress and allow her to dress up for DHS.

Would you think that was OK?

The Sharpay dress is on sale right now at disney.com, so I thought I would get it now and surprise her there with it - KWIM?

Anyways, thanks for your opinions....

Amy

I say, yes!
My 5 year old loves Sharpay because she's "So bossy" in her words. I think she just wants to be different because my 8 year old daughter loves Gabrielle.

sorry, I'm obviously sleep deprived... I thought it said Would you let your DS dress as Sharpay at DHS.... time for bed!!

Would like to remind everyone that as my signature says, my DD is 4 and this is a COSTUME!!!

What is the difference between a 4 year old wearing that Sharpay dress and this??

I am certain you would all think that was cute.

Now, the Sharpay dress on a 13 year old, maybe.....

Anyhoo, thanks for the opinions. Again, I was just worried about popularity, not "sluttiness". Although I do appreciate your comments on my mothering skills.

The costume to me looks like a frilly little girl's sundress, my only concern would be whether or not the length in back would make it uncomfortable to walk in, unless the costume is the same all the way around. Otherwise I think it would be cute.

I think we attach too many of our sexual hangups on little girls. They don't know the difference between too much knee on a sharpay dress and too much knee with shorts! Children (we're not talking about teens here) like to dress up and have no clue that we are attaching our sexual ideals on them.

I had a friend question me b/c my dd was interested in a black skull fairy costume. What was the difference? It was black. Now why would that make a difference? Because we put our idea that black is slutty into the mix.

I think the Sharpay outfit is just fine, I hope you have a wonderful time! :lovestruc

Sure, why not. It's a cute dress. Big deal what other people think. As long as your daughter (or heck, son, for that matter) is happy, then who cares.

Is it just me, or are people getting kinda "testy" on here lately? There seems to be a lot of tension...maybe its the economy? I guess whenever anyone posts anything on any forum, they are open to criticism...but lately, people have been going after everyone for every little thing. One lady got attacked on another thread because she said people should give up their seats on busses for women. Umm, I thought that was manners?

I hope your daughter has fun as Sharpay....its so sweet and innocent to see the little ones dressed up! My own DS was tinkerbelle when she was 2 and again at MNSSHP when she was 13 and she looked adorable both times, though we did search long and hard for a non-risque costume, as everything aimed at girls above 10 gets a little tiny...but lets all chill! We're talking about good times at the place we love, right?

Now, I'll probobly get flamed for "not letting people express their opinions"...

Where did all the posts go from that one lady who refered to the dress as "slutty"? I am not trying to re-open the can of worms, I just wondered where they went?? Weird?? Moderators??

Just curious....

Hope you did not think I was junping to conclusions...there is actually a bunch of posts missing here and now my responses look like I am losing it:upsidedow. Anyhoo, just wanted to clarify so people knew I was not totally crazy :)

No flames here. I have noticed people getting a little testier lately, too. :( I hope it gets better.

And I've totally noticed the risque costume thing, what's with that?! Oh well, that's just more incentive for me to get off my lazy butt and make DD's.

And yep, we're totally talking about good times at the place we love. That's why we're here! :)

I don't know where the posts went, and I think it was a man not a woman saying the costume was "that word" I assume my posts in resposne to him got pulled along with his. Sure was a nasty thing to say!!

I would.. but I'd also bought my 6 yr old DS Sharpay stuff (including shirts LOL). He absolutely LOVES Sharpay. Even his schoolwork folders are Sharpay. I'm so glad he is homeschooled hahahaha. But seriously.... if its something she likes - go for it.

I saw the dress on disney.com and wanted to buy it for my dd. She is 6. But they wanted $50 to ship it to Australia. It just made it too expensive. I'm glad I didn't show it to her first.

Yeah it was $25 to ship to Canada.

What I did last trip (and will do again) was order a bunch of stuff before the trip and had it shipped to our hotel for one of those $5 shipping deals. This time my sister is going to order some stuff too - I mean we will never bring home the $2100 we are allowed through customs, so we may as well buy some stuff. This trip I am also doing it for Joanns and maybe a couple of other places that we do not have here.

I was wondering if I could buy things and have them shipped to the hotel. I do actually plan on visiting Joanns myself as I have been dying to shop there. But there were a few other places I wanted to buy from online. Its just too expensive to get them sent here.

I just put the following on the Shipping information and did not have a problem:

Name
Hotel
Check In/Check Out Date
Hotel Address (I called direct for that information)
My Cell Phone #

We got it the day we arrived, so I have no idea when it actually arrived.

Joanns needed 10 days to process the order, so I did not get anything from them this time (we did go there, but to tell you the truth the internet had better selection and prices). I was also thinking about Target, but we do like to go there for a break.

Have fun!!
