Paint his finger nails pink?

I did and Dh is not thrilled. DS11 (6th grade) wanted to paint his nails pink for Breast Cancer awareness tomorrow and I didn't think it was a big deal. Actually, 2 little girls came over and did it for him. ;)

I just don't stress over something like this. WWYD?

I'm going to get flammed for this I'm sure but I wouldn't let me son paint his fingernails any color.

I see no problem. My son sprayed a pink faux hawk on his hair this week for the same reason.

I just don't get all flipped out about this kind of thing. If he wants to do it and has the courage to do it, I say go for it!

I think that is great that he wants to do that. My nephew walked in red high heel shoes for Heart and Stroke. It was called Walk a Mile in her shoes. :thumbsup2

It is not like he is just doing it for fun. It is for a something.

Why not? I don't see any reason to discourage a child from showing support for a great cause. In fact, I think the way in which he is choosing to do so will raise questions about why he has pink nails. He then (with your assistance in education) can educate others about breast cancer when asked. Good for him!!!

I absolutely would. And have. My DS16 paints his nails all the time.

Absolutely! This isn't like letting your four year old boy go outside to play in his favourite princess dress not realizing he'll be teased by the big boys. Your son is eleven. He knows exactly what he's doing, and kudos to him!

He's supporting a cause he believes in, and he's doing it in a way his friends are likely to find hilarious. I'd admire his self-confidence and chutzpah, and tell him to go for it.

:thumbsup2

I see no harm, if he isn't shy about drawing a little attention, afterall it's for a good cause :goodvibes! This week-end we attended our 16yo DGS's soccer game and they were all sporting hot pink shoes laces in recognition of BC awareness. Thought it was honorable and rather cool myself! :thumbsup2

I paint my littlest sons nails all the time... Yep pink purple what ever color mine are his are! I would do my older sons if he wanted but that's a no go with him...

Sure , it is for a GREAT cause , I would let mine paint his whole body pink if he wanted to that day. Would I encourage it daily, no prob not.

He'll probably get major points from all the ladies at Middle School. My 12 yr old dd would think he was adorable, and very sweet.

I would and what a great cause for your DS to make a stand about.

agreed, good for him :thumbsup2

We had a pink out at our school last week where all the kids were encouraged to wear as much pink as possible. It never occurred to my son to paint his nails, but PLENTY of the other boys did. They had pink laces in their shoes, pink socks on, pink headbands, etc. The big group shot though was a huge group if boys with their nails painted. Oh, and ftr, they're all fifth and sixth graders, too.
