Hi DIS friends! We have been SO looking forward to our MNSSHP trip this week- leaving on Wednesday and going straight to Universal for the day/night, then moving over to the Poly on Thursday and MNSSHP that night, resort & pool day at Yacht Club on Friday (yes we're switching resorts 3 times LOL, that's just how this trip worked out but I am genuinely excited to experience them all) and then DHS and EPCOT day planned for Saturday, flying home on Sunday. Since we've had plans waylaid by rain and tropical storms in the past, I was SO bummed to see all the forecasted rain and tropical storm and hurricane warnings for next week. Argh! Since I always like to ask my fellow Disney experts what you would do in this situation, I had to run here and ask your thoughts. Is it likely our Thursday MNSSHP will be dampened (literally and figuratively!) by the rain cancelling Boo to You and the shows and fireworks? Or is there just as much of a chance that things look brighter by Thursday evening and the shows can go on? This week was ideal for taking the kids out of school since they already have Thursday off for Yom Kippur, but my husband especially is just done with rained-out trips and I'm wondering if we should try for another week now. Eek! I'd be so grateful for your advice!!

Maybe I'm missing something but the storms they were talking about (that now seem better) weren't over Orlando?? It will rain it's just the season down there but doesn't seem any worse than usual?

Well if you cancel everything it would be miserable if weather reports were wrong … I would take the risk and stick with original plans .

I live here on th East Coast and we 'may' get some wind/rain. O-Town and Disney 'may' see a passing shower and a very light breeze. Don't cancel, this ain't a big deal, trust me!

They have limited ability predict where these major storms will go more then 2-3 days in advance. If you look at the historical track record, they have tended to be wildly off when projections go much further. Florida doesn't seem to be in the direct path of anything currently spinning in the Atlantic. I certainly wouldn't cancel a planed vacation due to the current forecast.

Was just looking at the weather for our trip that starts tomorrow night. All we can do at this point is bring the rain gear because if this holds we're looking at a lot of rain during our stay. As long as there is no lightning I guess I'll adopt the mantra that rain can always be overcome with proper attire.

My hope is that we just end up with the typical afternoon thunderstorm that always seems to coincide with our afternoon nap.

You’ll have plenty to do at Disney, even during the rain! This is the unfortunate pitfall of park hopping-you run the risk of overrunning parks due to maintenance or weather causing your desired attractions to close. Have plenty of fallbacks ready in terms of attractions just in case your desired attraction closes or the parades get scrapped.

Nothing, even rain, should EVER get in the way of your visit to Disney!
