Would you/have you asked your neighbor to clean up yard?

I need to bake cookies for my neighbors

I cook for mine weekly! Good guy. Loves cars... He had 18 on his property at one time.. did I care? Nope! He's also cut down trees for me for free, helped me install a new starter on my van, put in a new replacement window for me. he's like an uncle to my kids. I could not have asked for a better neighbor I'm so glad he's never complained about a pumpkin on my porch (which I actually do have but its not rotting yet... )

The point is that these people are renting a property. They obviously do not feel that they should respect the owner, neighbors or the land that they are renting. If someone chooses to plant gourds and pumpkins as part of their landscape plan, rock on with their bad selves. But, the homeowner, should be made aware of it as it can affect the curb appeal of the home or invite bugs, animals or some other kind of uninvited things into a neighborhood. That is just not smart in a neighboor hood as far as bad feelings, impact on home worth, or invasion of the property by varments.

We have neighbors who are renting the house next door to us. The owner relocated for her job and is renting it out to friends. When the owner lived there she always kept her lawn mowed and neat looking. She moved out in June and the yard is a mess. The tenants left their pumpkins from Halloween on the front steps until they turned black....in fact I think they are still there. The lawn isn't an issue now since it's December but the rotten pumpkins are disgusting! I just want to knock on the door and ask them to take care of it.

It sounds like the owner is friends with the renter. Not sure if it makes any difference.

Yes, it does...but not in the way you might be thinking I would 100% make sure that she knew. I would feel safer renting to a friend, but if they were treating my home like that I would want to neighbors to let me know. I would assume that I could trust my friends wih my property, but friends shouldn't ever lend money or do business, IMHO. Maybe they feel entitled to act like that because they are friends with the owner? Either way, I would be contacting the owner with my concerns. Sometimes good friends when up close and personal can be not so good friends or clients when the Cat is away
