Would You Guys Find This Strange? Update: Everything's Okay But I'm Mad

My parents "disappeared" once for two days during a snow storm. Since they were on their way home from my place (400 mile drive), they should have known I was worried. After two days of trying not to worry, I finally called my dad's office to find out where they were. (Now that they are retired I wouldn't have that resource!) They had stopped at an old friends house and waited out the storm.

I hope my Dad was suitably embarrassed that I called work! They admitted if I had done the same thing they would have been mad with worry. Now we all shoot out an e-mail or something prior to leaving if we are going to be out of touch for more than 24 hours.

I feel your pain! Glad to hear they're okay.

I agree with you honeywolf. Even though your parents are adults and don't have to "check" in with you, it was inconsiderate of them not to inform you that they were leaving.

I assume that if they had car trouble, were sick, etc., you would be the one they would mostly rely on. I'm also assuming that you talk to or see them on a fairly regular basis. It doesn't hurt to tell someone where you are going, especially if you are going anywhere far or staying somewhere overnight.

You have every right to be upset. It would be different if you lived many hours away and talked to them infrequently. Besides, for safety's sake, they should tell someone where they are going. You never know what might happen, and should they need to be looked for, it would be nice to know where to start.
