Could someone please help me decide when it is best to go to Disneyland, in the middle of december or late january?

I want to go in december if I can get my bf to say yes because of:
the christmas theme
Is not that long till december as january ;)

BUT, I guess there will be more people there, longer waiting lines for the attractions than in Jaunary?

Its cheaper to go In January then in december.

I guess the closing times are almost the same.... I want to hear from those of you that have been there in december and/or January that you guys think... I`ve only been there during the summer, so I have no idea how its there in the winter, but I can imagine it great, even if its cold at that time of the year...

But I can also imagine that there is less crowded then in July when we were there the last time... So even though its closing earlier, there will be more time to ride what we want when there less waiting lines?? We can do more in less time..

How was the waiting lines in minutes for the biggest attractions there in dec and jan? Could you go right in? What was the longest you had to wait?

Its going to depend on when you go in mid-December.
If you go midweek, and at least a week before Christmas, it won't be that busy, as all the schools will still be in term. If you go at the weekends though, it will be heaving.

The real plus to going mid-December as opposed to late January, is that the Christmas season will be in full swing, and Christmas at DLRP is soooooo beautiful it takes your breath away.

Also, if you have a look down through the trip reports here, you'll find some from mid-December 2007. They will give you an idea of the atmosphere, decorations, ride times, shows etc for around the time you are looking to go -

Was concidering going from the 13th to 18th or 19th.. How is the crowd there at that time?

I would choose late January, even though the Christmas Season had ended we had a lovely time with no queues, low crowds etc.

You could always go the end of Christmas Season from the 4th-6th January, that is when we have booked to go next year.

It depends what is more important to you. I would pick December as I love the Christmas theming ~ it really is beautiful but if you prefer rides without queues then it would be better to go in January.

I'm going to say December as I've never been during Xmas.

I do love the rides, last time we were there we took every ride there is one or many times.. And its great if there is no queues... I suppose disneyland is great in any weather :p But I also love christmas, but as I understood from the previous tripreports its kid of crowded in december......

I voted for December, although any time is better than never! :woohoo: If you get to the parks early and do the headline attractions first it should make it easier. January is the coldest month of the year in Paris - I know it's no heatwave in December either but at least it should be warmer than January. I'll never forget the cold in mid-February when we were there. :cold: I wanted to strap a duvet around me! The atmosphere in December too is sure to be wonderful. Either way, have a ball! :yay: :woohoo:

Here is my reply...

I went last Christmas end of November.. queues were fine.

I am going back mid December this year, *** I couldnt bare going back without seeing the Christmas theme *** its sooooo breatakingly fantastic and beautiful:)

I voted for January as it would be something to look forward to after Christmas!

A lot of closures in january:

January 2009

-- Rock'n'Roller Coaster avec Aerosmith: 02/01/09
-- Pirates of the Caribbean: from 05 to 16/01/09
-- Armageddon : Les Effets Spéciaux: from 06 to 09/01/09
-- Casey Jr. - Le Petit Train du Cirque: from 07 to 21/01/09
-- Le Pays des Contes de Fées : from 07 to 21/01/09

I voted for December, DLRP at Christmas time is magical and I think worth the possibility of longer queues. We always go on every single ride there is a number of times and we have been twice at December and never waited for a really long time. Fastpass tickets and some careful planning ensured we never waited more than 30-45 minutes. If you go around the 19th the queues should not be as bad, last time we went at Christmas we stayed till the 22nd and noticed a big increase in crowds from the 21st.

However like a few other people have said anytime is fantastic!

Personally I think I'd go late January. It's cheaper and quieter, so you get a really good value holiday.

You do miss out on the Christmas theming, which is very nice, but we've been at that time of year before and found it to be really quite busy (DB didn't have a very good trip that year because of the crowds).

Xmas!!! The decorations look amazing and there are less ride closures. I'm going mid week in Dec and it was the same price as Jan :goodvibes

I have voted for December coz that's what we're doing lol. We've never been at Xmas time before, so it would be lovely to see all the Xmas decorations & shows (and I can then stop bugging DH about going at Xmas time!) plus it won't be as cold as January (hopefully) and we can't go in January anyway as DD's at school.

We'll be there 18th-21st Dec and I'm hoping 18th & 19th won't be *too* bad but expecting a mad crowd at the weekend. Yikes. What have I done? lol.

I voted Jan as thats when I'm going!

Got DLH for SL prices (had we gone at a more popular time of year) also I cant get time off work in December, there should be very low crowds and it will help with the post xmas blues!!

Soo, I really want to see disneyland at chrismas... So, I`ve decided to try and convince my dear bf that why not go in late nov, early december instead...
I guess the crowd isn`t that bad yet then, its christmas in Disneyland and it`s not too expencive....

But I do have to ask again, how is the crowd from the 26th november - 2 or 3rd december??? Not as busy as in the summer I hope?

It's a difficult one, we have been both mid Dec and late Jan. As everyone has said christmas at dlrp is wonderful and not to be missed, it does get very busy, where as late Jan is very quiet most rides are walk ons' and yes it is a lot cheaper. If it is just the 2 of you (no children) then a busy park isn't so bad. We are going on the 4th of Jan, the christmas crowds should hopefully all have gone home by then, you get the cheap rates, but best of all you still catch the end of the christmas season. Hope this helps. :)
