for a first meeting?

I'm having an event at my home, and there are a few people I might want to invite, but it seems kinda strange to invite people who I haven't actually met, but do enjoy here on the DIS.

Would you invite anybody that way?

I remember when Town Crier? (John) used to post about a big cookout he and is wife used to hold in the summer and he had an open invitation to all DISers.

As for me yes there are a few that I would invite to my house.

I'm flattered...just ask me:rotfl: I don't live that far away

I would for a group event, maybe not a one on one. BTW.....you mean me correct;)

No, I would not. But I am not a guy, I am 5'4, 140ish lb gal, and I couldn't hurt a fly...so just because someone has a disboards account doesn't mean that they are good people.

No offense. I would love to meet y'all in a bar/hotel/Applebees or whatever though!!!!

I think it's a nice gesture. I really don;'t have friends on here I talk to on a regular basis that I would feel comfortable enough to invite to my house. A public place would be okay

I've been on the DIS for over 10 years (started using a new DIS name when we bought DVC), and there a few people...well, maybe 15 or so?...whose friendships I treasure and that I'd have NO qualms whatsoever about inviting to my house. Casual chit-chat acquaintances? Not so much. And some others...no way. :scared1:

There are some very close DIS friends I've never met, and it always kind of surprises me when I'm reminded that I haven't. Dear friends. :grouphug:

Although I think it's a great idea, I'm busy that weekend. Drats.

I haven't really formed friendships on here like I had in the past on a chatroom I frequented, but, yeah, I think there are some that I could trust (people with longevity, not newbies), and if it was a group of people, sure :)
Sounds fun!!

I haven't met any friends on the Dis that I'm close enough to invite to my home. I have met friends on another board I used to frequent that I felt completely comfortable inviting to my home. I've met quite a few people in person who I got to know from the web and then through phone calls. I say go for it. :goodvibes

There's a couple of Disers I would invite to my house for a first meeting, but I've known them online here for like three years. :goodvibes

IDK. I know there is one poster who already has my address, but I already have met her IRL. She did have my address before I met her IRL though, so that's kind of a moo point.

Well I finally met Disneymomx7 last week in disney and I would have no problem inviting her over to my house. She was just as sweet in real life as she is on here. (and her family was adorable!)

so that's kind of a moo point.

There are some I would have no problem inviting to my home. An open invitation would not be a good idea.
