Would you ever invite DIS "friends" to your home...

;)
Exactly, it's like a cow's opinion, so it doesn't matter. :rotfl:

I'm a member of the NE Ohio DISers and we've been meeting at Towncrier's house for 9 years now, for a cook-out, every Sunday before Memorial Day.

So far, the police have not been called out!;)

TC:cool1:

There are some DIS'ers that I have formed friendships with and would invite them to my home. WE have chatted on the phone and correspond outside of the DIS.

I would be happy inviting some people of the UK community boards not open invitation though.

I would for a group event, maybe not a one on one. BTW.....you mean me correct;)

Ive met some of my favourite people from people doing this. Including the one I quoted :)

I woudl for a group event as well I miss our parties at Tia and Eds :(

I've been on the DIS for over 10 years......and there a few people.....whose friendships I treasure and that I'd have NO qualms whatsoever about inviting to my house......And some others...no way. :scared1:

There are some very close DIS friends I've never met, and it always kind of surprises me when I'm reminded that I haven't. Dear friends. :grouphug:
My thoughts exactly. To answer the question, yes.

I have Disney friends from my Prodigy days that have been to my home. We have been friends for 20 years. I have met them at WDW, etc.

Not our first meeting but I invited Dan and Marie to my house if they ever come to the Smokies again. :cool1:

As far as first meetings, Mare could visit my house anytime and we've never met, so yeah, I'd be choosey, but there are "first meets" I'd do in my home.

I'd have to be very close to someone to do a first visit in my home. I did a "first visit" at a cabin in PF years ago. While I wonder what I was thinking at times, I had a blast that weekend and no regrets with Serena, Nuke and a old Diser y'all remember as Snoopy. Snoopy even drove my car in the first 5 minutes of meeting her! I met another diser during that first time meet but I don't think she's here now :confused3 and I don't remember her DIS name. :headache:
The good thing about that meet was if it didn't work, I could get in the car and drive home. So I think first meets might feel safer somewhere other than *home*.

I would.
The first time a met diser we stayed at a hotel in Vegas for 5 days.
We were with my BFF and her sister. But I would have Marcie come stay at my home anytime.
The second time I met Disers was in Feb and I shared a hotel with stranger for the Ladies only trip to Disneyland.
A few of the girls I met at the Ladies trip just went to Vegas for 7 days in June. I would def invite the ladies and their families to my house.

I guess it just depends on your comfort level.

I may be young, dumb, beautiful, and male... but look at my location... who wouldn't want to come visit me? haha

Nope. 'cause what if you had a bunch of Dis-ers that didn't like you, decided to gang up on you, trash your home, dye your hair lime green and pee in your BBQ sauce? Wouldn't that just ruin everything?
No seriously, i guess it would depend on how well you "knew" a particular Dis-er. A blanket invite for all, nope, wouldn't consider it. Too many people I don't know on here.

I flew across the country and got picked up at the airport by a disser I'd never met and the two of us drove to the house of a third disser neither of us had ever met. Both turned out to be normal and great people, we had a great time and both would be welcome in my home.

And I've met a couple of other dissers who turned out to be semi-psycho.

I think there's a certain level of risk in anything we do.

My real life best friend is a woman I met on a different message board. We met at a message board meet-up in someone's home. I also met my husband online almost 10 years ago, so I'm not so against meeting people off the 'net!

SwedishMeatball and her family have been guests at my house a couple of times and my family at hers...but there are others where I'd be very skeptical of having over the first time...:lmao:

But we could go out for BBQ, right? ;)

:rotfl:I've already done that!

DISer edk35 & I met on here in the winter or spring 2008 and learned that we live only about 15 min. apart. When school got out last June, she brought her kids over (she has three, I have two...all close in age) and we all had lunch. (Both our DH's thought we were crazy doing this, btw).

We've all become great friends and do things together as families both inside & outside of WDW.....the last thing being having a 4th of July crab feast & barbecue together last week.:woohoo:

We've also vacationed in WDW together several times (both families are DVC) since meeting and are looking forward to our BCV/AKV trips later this month. :yay:

I agree w/ a lot of pp's here in that there are several women and families that I would absolutely invite, but I interact w/ them here on a regular basis, and also through phone and mail. Like most of y'all, as a blanket invite? Absolutely not.
