Would you ever allow your teen D to spend the night alone with a 50 yr old man?Update

But I wouldn't even allow it with a close family friend that I totally trusted, for the protection of the adult. Things happen and people talk. Girls get upset and they make up stuff. Even if the girl had express parental permission, without a spouse or kid in the house, no way.

I'm actually assuming that nothing happened, because my neighbor is certainly not acting like a person with anthing to hide. But is he really so naive that he thinks that no one will assume the worst?

::yes::. That's very true. People assume stuff, just like many of us have done in this thread.

Our neighbor is a musician and works out of his home. For the last year he's had a home schooled female teen student who spends a lot of time at his house...a lot of time. We know when she's there because she drives a very distinctive vehicle. Neighbor knows the student's parents through their very conservative church.

Neighbor's wife and son have been traveling a lot over the summer but teen student still spends a lot of time at the house with her "teacher." A few nights ago she spent the night, when neighbor's wife and son were not home.

I can't imagine what lapse in judgment made my neighbor think that was okay. And I can't imagine the minor teen's parent's permitting it. I was thinking about all the close male friends we have - our "friends of the family." I cannot imagine our 16 year old spending the night alone with any of them and I can't imagine any of them being foolish enough to let her.

The first thing that came to mind was the movie "Lolita." Yuck.

Could be completely innocent though.

Can you peak through a window the next time she's there? :rolleyes1

Even though it may be innocent, I would not want a young girl (or any girl) staying alone with my husband.

Um...no!! Not unless it was like...an uncle or something but even then...mmm I don't think so!! DEF not her "teacher".

No you are the one who is naive.

Exactly. Back when my D was a gymnast, my H was a car pool driver and there were a couple of times when he had to drive an 8th grade girl to gymnastics when our own D wasn't going. I even hated that...we had to just trust that the girl wouldn't make up a story.

Wow. We're jumping to a lot of conclusions here.

jump to conclusions?? here on the Dis??? Nah, that NNNEEEEVEERRR happens!!

Some here always assume the worst about everything......

that said....I wouldn't allow my child to do that unless the person they were staying with was family.

It's so funny how many people think this is wrong however, it was fine for MJ to let boys stay the night with him:confused3

I can't believe for a second that anyone who posts here would think MJ allowing boys to stay over is fine.

Wow. That's a little harsh, I think. You didn't have to open this thread, nor reply to it.
