Would you do this?...AKA Am I nuts??

I am planning to take DD to Ft Myers to visit my Gram (her Great-Gram) for a few days in late Jan. DD has 1/22 off and I am going to extend it a couple of days.

Yesterday, I was telling DNiece about this and saying how I wasn't even thinking about going over to WDW because it would be so expensive. Well, the wretched girl told me she has two passes from when she was in the CP and I can have them. ACK!

Now I am thinking this. Fly to Ft Myers on 1/21, rent a car and stay by my Gram. Tues am, check out, say goodbye to Gram and drive to Orlando. Stay someplace, either onsite or close and go to DTD in the evening. Wed. get up early, check out and spend the day at the Magic Kingdom. Leave late afternoon, drive to MCO, drop off the car and fly home from there.

Am I nuts?? Too much? Would you do it?

I think you would be pretty rushed but if I had the chance to be in WDW even for a day I would take it.

No, she doesn't know anything about it yet because I have been trying to figure out the best time for DD and my schedules.

The money is about the same, it would just be a matter of feeling rushed. Hmmmm

I'd definitely do it, but is there any way you can buy gram a ticket and take her too?

I would stick with visiting Gr. Mom if that was the plan. It seems a bit of travel for a very short visit and kinda shorting your Gr. Ma the real reason for the trip. Remember Disney will be there Gr. Ma may not. How often do you get to see her? If it is rare I would just see her if it is very often then Maybe.

The other day my sister told me about her friend who went to WDW for the day. Here boyfriend came to visit her and took her to the airport as a surprise. They flew to FL, went to the MK for the full day, stayed overnight onsite, and flew home the next day. My sister thought this was abosultely ridiculous. I thought it was awesome! I wouldn't care if I only had 2 hours at WDW, I would make the most of it. (Of course, that assumes I wasn't paying for it like this friend.)

I know your sitch is a little different but my point is I would do it in a heartbeat.

I would fly into Orlando........Probably cheaper to do so anyway also rent the car there........go to DD that day then do WDW the next day, after that get up early and go and see Gram for a day and then go back to Orlando and leave. On your return make your flight later in the day since it is probably about 5 hours from Ft. Myers (I think) is there anyway you could possibly add another day, heck your already taking your DD out of school for a day what difference does one more make? The crowds are usually pretty quiet in January except for maybe the weekends.
