Would you do the event

I just loved it. Seeing so many people from the board. It was like a reunion.

too... It was really amazing!
And I was only there for Saturday...

I would do it, but would make sure I wasn't flying out on the last night. I do regret not meeting more people. I thought I would be able to do more trading. I felt a little intimidated by the trading lounge and found I made most of my trades while in one line or another. I also especially enjoyed meeting people that I have met on earlier vacations that I have traded with--it was like a family reunion. I would not bring my family with me next time either. I was one of the lucky ones and managed all of my pins. My husband went to the breakfast and was not pleased with how that went. Overall I think the event was great and enjoyed the scavenger hunt. The last day was a hoot. We were the first ones in the A line so that we could catch our 6:50 PM flight and it took us exactly 5 minutes to get the RSP form and check out!!

If it is possible I will be there. I agree with n2mm I had hope to meet a few other board members but just got too busy trading!!!!

I know I would do it again, but bring my own lazy boy! :) I know the RSP was meant to reduce the long time in line, but consider standing in line to sign up for the RSP, standing in line to receive your assignment, standing in line to buy the pins, and then standing in line to get the artist pins signed. The lines did move swiftly, though... 25 registers helps!

I would definately do it again. I met so many nice people and enjoyed it completely. Only 2 fustrations. No room to move around in the trading lounge if you are a wheelchair user and the lack of Sign Language Interpreters making the talks completely useless to me. While I do fine in a small group or one on one, i was far too noisy to understand and impossible to lip read.

I too would also go again, but agree there were some kinks that needed to be worked out.

I am going to be the lone dissenter. I would NOT do the pin event again. I would come and do the GREAT DIS PIN ADVENTURE! That was a blast and I got some good traders and had fun meeting people and catching up with people I had met before. However, I found the atmosphere inside the event itself to be very negative and cutthroat. I did not even get my pins out to show anyone there. As I stood in line on Sunday, I was surrounded by some much WHINING and B###hing that I walked out without my pins.

After I walked out I wound up at the France pavilion with a British Beer and I sat down to people watch at the little tables by the crepe stand. I was joined by a wonderful British couple and thier daughter. The daughter was wonderful and I wound up staying with them through Illuminations. The mother was moved to tears by Illuminations and the little girls face was one of complete awe! At the end I gave her a nice pin for letting me share her evening and left with a great grin! I was reminded that for me this is what Disney is all about, not being locked in a dark building with little metal objects!

I think pin trading is lots of fun and will probably continue to do it with Cast members and DIS members, but this weekend took a lot of the magic of it away from me. I don't really want an investment appraisal of my pins. I am NOT planning to retire on them!

Sorry!

I do agree some of the people were not that nice but I think you will find that anywhere people are in contention with one another.
One tip is if you pick you pins up about 8.45 there are no lines.
You have to remember you are dealing with some people that buy to sell on e-bay and they are not happy campers.

Shirley,
I agree with you. However, to pick up my pins at 8:45 meant that I could not watch Illuminations, which I really love! I just felt like the pins took away from the vacation feeling I love at Disney. I realize that I am a minority here and that is OK.

I think I would like this event a lot better in the fall or winter! It is TOO hot in August! Since I don't have kids I normally do not go to Disney between June and August. Now I remember why! Yesterday, I actually went to a water park. I have NEVER done a water park solo before and I can't believe I paid that much money just to float in a river, but I just was miserable at the parks and I had nowhere to go between checkout and flight home, so... Acutally it was pretty fun!

Definitely yes. Shawn and I had a great time. We made some great trades and met lots of great people. I think that was the best part of the event, finally being able to put faces to all of the people from the boards. I loved the fact that people had on their Great Pin Adventure lanyards so it was easy to spot fellow board members - without those I would have missed so many. And I met so many great people while we were standing in line. Yes, there were some low moments and peoples who's rudeness was unbelievable, but they were few and so outnumbered by everyone else. I have to agree though the heat was unbearable, why anyone would chose to vacation there in August is beyond me and I felt so sorry for some of the kids there and so glad I left mine with my sister. All in all, though I had a great time and would definitely go back again.

I would love to go back! Sooooo much fun.

In a heartbeat!

I had the best time! My DH said he wants to go if they have it again next year.

Geez - Perdita AND Pongo at a pin event; what a hoot!

I would definately do it again. And I would even wait in lines again as long as the pins were as cute as these that were released.
The idea of waiting in line later in the day is great, but some people lost on that deal when they announced that due to a problem with manufacturing they were sold out of the Tink Pins Around the World pin.
But I don't think I would do the walking in the heat again. I have the wicked Disney Ankle rash and it spread up to my calves. Apparently I am the only one on the DIS boards who gets this rash, even though the people at the First aid station and Sandlake hospital said they see it all the time. It is caused by the heat from the hot sidewalk reflecting on the legs.

You bet we'd do the pin event again! One of the WDW hosts told us that he believed next year's event would be a week long! Just imagine that....in other words, can't wait!
