We'll be doing the Buy 3 Get 2 free deal this Summer (arriving afternoon June 17 & departing Tues., June 22nd). I know for sure we'll use the PH for DL/DCA Fri-Mon., but I don't know what day is best to use the "5th" day? There are so many things to consider: AP blockouts, the fact that the Thur. (and Fri.?) we arrive will be grad. nights... Any of you experts out there want to help me decide if Thursday or Tues. would be better? We're about a 6-7 hr. drive away if that helps any. Oh yeah, and we'll be picking up DH from the E3 Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Thur., June 17th. Thanks!

UPDATE: Bumping up my own old thread because I completely forgot that June 22nd was also a non-blockout day. Any thoughts? TIA!

I am gonna suggest going the Thursday. At least on the Thursday you get that extra few hours of park time in to take full advantage of your time and money.

I'd suggest going on Thursday. You'll get there after riding in the car and want to be out and about may as well be in the park. You could catch the fireworks or F! on that night and worry about rides another day. While there may be grads coming into the parks the regular AP's are also blocked.

If you go on Tuesday when you want to leave, you will be cutting a day short, and probably wishing you weren't going from park to car.

That said I agree Tuesday is likley to be quieter a quiter day in the park, but I think you will be happier starting early rather than finishing early.

Thanks for your opinions/advice & please keep 'em coming :goodvibes I'm still undecided, but you've given me a lot to think about!

UPDATE: Bumping up my own old thread because I completely forgot that June 22nd was also a non-blockout day and that we'd have to swing by the E3 Expo @ the Los Angeles Convention Center to pick up DH. Considering that it will take 6-7 hrs. from SJ to LA, is Thur. still the best choice or would I even get any park time in once I get through all the LA traffic? TIA!

My vote would be for Tuesday. We love being able to go into Disneyland and ride a bunch of our favorites one more time before we go home. It makes the leaving day less sad.

We always do the same thing.....we get up early on our last day, ride our number 1 favorites (each person gets one pick), then eat and usually leave around noon to catch our afternoon flight. That just works for us and keeps everyone in a good mood for the flight home. ;)

Do you guys think it will be ridiculously packed since it's a non-blockout day just after WOC opens? The last time we were here was maybe 5 yrs ago when my dad came back from Iraq. I don't think there was any new rides/shows that opened at that time though & I don't remember it being too crowded.

Probably.

But remember that (as far as I can fathom) they block out APs because the parks are going to be so ridiculously packed by day trippers and normal tourists anyway!

So it's going to be packed. Know it, plan for it, breathe extra while there to help calm yourself down from it.

:)

And remember that while there will be a lot of nearby hotel guests streaming into the parks each morning at opening, many of the locals are more likely to get to the parks closer to 10 or 11 AM, so you'll have 2 or 3 hours every morning to get a lot done before the crowd levels really start to slow you down.
