We are working on plans for our October/November 2025 trip. We will be a family of five, with a 7 year old, 4 year old and 6 month old.

Right now, we are booked at the Beach Club with a BB offer for 6 nights. I am thinking of switching resorts to POR - even at rack rate, the pricing right now is coming out similar and if any future discounts apply, it would likely be less. Given that we will be traveling with a baby, we are planning for a slower trip with more resort and pool time.

Pros of BC?
  • Definitely convenience! It would be great to be able to walk to two different parks without folding a double stroller. Also so nice not to worry about waiting for Disney buses with little ones.
  • The pool. We have stayed at the BC in the past and the kids absolutely loved the sand bottom area. It really made the trip feel like a vacation.
  • Skyliner! Our kids also love the Skyliner and on our last trip we had to make a number of special visits just to ride it around.
The main downside is the trip would be a shorter one, and I'm not sure we could plan for rest days without feeling like we were missing out on park time.

Pros of POR?
  • A longer stay means the ability to plan resort days in between park days and this would be great for everyone's energy and stress levels.
  • Food court! We definitely prefer CS over TS with the kids' ages and POR has a fantastic food court.
  • Nostalgia. POR was the first resort we ever stayed at and we have great memories.
The main downside of POR is the location/transportation situation.

If you were the planner, which would you choose? I'm also thinking of POFQ to improve the transportation/busing situation but we love the theming and food court at POR.

This is a tough one! I'm leaning towards POFQ but I don't think you can really go wrong with any of your options.

BC will require less rest time because of the ease of access to EP and DHS- but 3 days is a lot of time to get plenty of rest in if you go Mod. Your kids are young so a 9 day trip is still possible, part of me says embrace that while you can. As they age they're going to start having activities and such that might not allow a 9 day trip in Oct/Nov.

I say POFQ because have you seen the remodeled rooms?! Link (Scroll to the end to see pics) They appear to have done a lovely job and they should wrap all buildings sometime this Spring. POR however is slated to start remodeling in Spring 2025 lasting through Jan 2026, it's a large resort so maybe you wouldn't be near the noise- or maybe you would. Late Oct/ Early Nov is a very busy time so moving you if you don't like your room due to noise is going to be extra hard.

Personally, when we went with our young boys (youngest 1st trip was at 4-weeks) we always went for a minim of 10-days so we could go at a slower pace, repeat favorite parks, attractions, etc. I’d choose POR—the theming is beautiful and they have a great pool for kids.

Would you make use of the deluxe perks (primarily EEH). My kids fell asleep wherever we were and didn’t care if we were out late but YMMV). If not, then definitely go with POR and stay longer. You can always just ride the skylines for fun.

I would go with POR because you get to stay longer. We’ve stayed at both and BC is great and convenient as far as transportation. But I truly love POR (also the first place we stayed with our kids). It’s beautiful, relaxing and I agree the food court is nice. BC is severely lacking on CS food, which is not fun with little kids.

Being a deluxe hotel type of guy, my vote would be ……POR. We don’t spend a lot of time in the parks nowadays, usually from rope drop to noon and then go back at 6 for the nighttime atmosphere. Those three extra days will give you lots of relaxation and the difference between a 6 day and 9 day ticket is very small

POR - longer stay :)

Also, I know you said your kids love the sand bottom area at the BC. But now that you have a baby, only one of you will be in charge of the 4 and 7 year old. And the 7 year old may be ready to venture over to the slide or other areas of the pool. I find it’s really hard (and stressful) to keep track of your children at SAB.

I voted POR. BC pool is very difficult with kids who want to be a. It more independent and use the pool slide. You and your spouse will likely have to split up, and then it’s not as relaxing and fun. Also, lacking on QS options in the hotel.

You could do POFQ for 1 bus stop and better walkability. Their pool looks very fun for kids and seems easy to see the kids in.

Definitely POR. I am not sure if you know but you can now modify BB offers online -or at least some people can (not everyone with an old reservation has been able to access online). Right now I can see that POR is available 10/26 - 11/5 5th bed woods view is available for $258 a night on average using current BB rate. There are also royal rooms for a bit more.
If you can’t see the BB special you might be able to see it if you try to modify reservation or by calling the BB number. What are your actual dates?

You could also consider Caribbean and then have skyliner access and moderate rates.

I’m going with BC. The convenience of walking to EPCOT & DHS or taking the boat is huge with a double stroller- I’ve done it and busses are a mess.

Even though it's not one on my radar (lack of QS compared to others), I went with Beach Club. Why?

* I am not a fan of either of the Port Orleans resorts. I'm a weird person who is not a fan of New Orleans (personal reasons I don't care to go into...briefly a very bad visit there once), and POR feels like stuffy elite (mansions) vs. junky (bayou).
* You get Extra Evening Hours with BC (or any Deluxe or Villa). Right now because of that, I'm either a Value or a Deluxe girl. (It is making it challenging to justify a Deluxe for a pre-cruise trip in August since I'm not there over a Monday or Wednesday, but Mears transportation is purchased to Riviera, so...)

If I had to choose between those two I'd probably go POR just because it would be a longer trip. BC is my least favorite of the Epcot resorts, if I'm staying deluxe I want a full balcony darn it. I enjoyed POR the few times I've stayed there but to be honest, it was always on a split stay so I'm not sure if I'd like it for 9 days. Like another poster, I'm not a fan of New Orleans so POFQ has always been off my radar but I like the vibe at PO. But, I'd probably look at the price of Swan/Dolphin for that time to see if they have something, they are usually my go to if I can't get anything at BWI or the price is just too high.

We love both the BC and POR. The room is bigger at the BC and the ability to walk to two parks is really nice. The two older kids could play all day at the pool. You will be traveling with a six-month-old and that can be stressful. You might not want to be away from home for 9 days. :)

On the other hand, POR is very nice. We stay there a lot. You can't go wrong there. But it will be buses for everything, except Disney Springs. We love the main pool, but it isn't zero entry. Would the 7-year-old want to swim in the main pool while the 4-year-old plays in the kiddie pool?

I just returned from a trip at POFQ and loved it. That said, it was with my DS14. With a double stroller, I would absolutely go with BC. I absolutely hate bus transportation with a stroller and potentially sleeping baby. It also cuts down transportation time so that shorter days in the park and resort time is much easier.

I would go with the longer stay at French Quarter...but that adds more days to be purchasing food at WDW, so only if the additional food costs are in your budget!

That's a tough one, BC rooms don't all have a full balcony and if I was staying deluxe with little kids, that's a must have for me. I might be inclined to take the longer trip with POR, but I'd want a 5th sleeper as my kids are terrible bed sharers.

POR

BC is one of the least favorite resorts we've stayed at.

BC allows for EEH and much easier transportation to/from 2 parks. Those things would potentially offset additional nights for my family. However we generally don’t do full rest days. We do half rest days and often afternoon breaks, which makes low transport time and convenience very valuable. We also would enjoy being able to pop over to Epcot for food options.

However the beignets at POFQ might be enough to make us stay there again someday. POR is not our favorite. I’d rather stay at Coronado if I’m going to have to bus to all the parks.
