and it has nothing to do with the menu :thumbsup2

We are going to be in WDW at Thanksgiving. We have the meal plan for 4 days and then we will pay OOP b/c we are doing a split stay.

We have a son who is 9 and a daughter who is 4 and LOVES princesses. The trip will be about a week before her b-day. My kids are not head over heels over any characters at the meals or even meeting them in the park, except my DD loves the princesses/fairies. We have not done a princess meal before but have done Chef Mickey's and the old Donald's breafastasaurus in AK when it was just us and my son.

Because it will be harder to see the princesses at a character meet since Toontown is shut down, we are doing CRT for sure, and debating adding in Akershus as well. I know my son will not enjoy the interaction, but my DD will be over the moon and it will free us up some time meeting the princesses at the park.

So would you book 2 princess meals in our situation? Although I think my DS will not like it, doing an earlu morning Akershus ressie might be good b/c he loves EPCOT so at least we could make it into the park nice and early:lmao:

i would just book both since you will make it up to your son in the park. the other thing i would do i ask him what is the one place that he would like to have dinner at. let him make the choice and have it be his special dinner.

I agree. Book them! Your son needs to do some things for his sister but let him pick one meal he wants as a special treat for him. That would be fair.

I say just do CRT and then do the Fairy meet n greet. I think another princess meal would be overkill for your son. It is BOTH their vacations afterall....

I wouldn't do 2 princess meals if it were me. I would let them each choose one restaurant.

The other option would be for you and your husband to divide and conquer.

Let your son go to one princess meal. It won't kill him. For the second, have your husband take him to a different restaurant. It could even be a "guys night out" kind of thing.

I think 1 princess meal sounds fair. I mean if DS won't like it, why make him upset. Plus with the new M&G you could see ones you miss.

I think you would find pretty much the same princesses at Akershus and CRT so I probably wouldn't do both in one trip.

I would book CRT and then hit Epcot World showcase and see the ones you missed. In the world showcase, we saw, Belle with the Beast, Aurora, Snow White, Mulan, Jasmine with Alladin and there may be others I am forgetting.

If you want to do both Akershus and CRT then I wouldn't take your son to both. I am speaking from experience as a mom of a son (8) who DID NOT enjoy CRT so I know he would have been miserable at Akershus.

Have fun! :)

What makes you so certain that your son won't enjoy it? Has he ever done one? Trust me when I tell you that the princesses *really* play up to the boys in a completely different way than they play up to the girls. I realize my ds was only (almost) 5 the last time he was there, but the princesses were one of his favorite character interactions.

However, to answer your question - yes, I would schedule this meal for my dd, even if I thought my ds wouldn't enjoy it. In fact, to flip the tables, that's exactly what we're doing our next trip. DD is 15 and there's no way she's gonna be excited about Hollywood and Vine, but my 6 year old will probably love it...so we're doing it.

I really think one princess meal is enough. If your son loves Epcot...let him pick the place there.

Or split up your party as others suggested.

I doubt he will enjoy it b/c he is not into any characters and gets easily embarassed. I know they give the boys lots of attention, but I think he willbe cringing, LOL.

His favorite restaurants are Boma and we are doing that again for sure. He also loves O'Hana (he has good taste, LOL) and we will try and book that. I was thinking of Akershus b/c it would be a new place for us.

The past few trips have been very "DS" centered. One trip he did without his sister (she was not born yet) and the past 2 he still got to do his favorite rides and DD would sleep inthe stroller or we did rider-swap.

The castle is a "must do" only b/c of the experience of being IN the castle-DD thinks that is an amazing thing! But I am still debating adding Akershus. If we were going off-season I would be less inclined to do both, but I think the lines may be long to meet the Princesses in EPCOT during the Thanksgi9ving week.

I can see asking the kid to suck it up for one princess meal for his sister, but two.... especially since you appear to be absolutely sure that he would find a princess meal excruciating.

I like having the girls go to the second princess meal and send the guys somewhere they want to go, if you can do that. Not clear on whether his dad will be on the trip.

His dad will be with us, but we like to do meals together.:goodvibes The only way we might split is if my friend's DD also wants to go and the 4 of us (Myself, DD, my friend, her DD) go and let the guys do the rides in Future World.

Thanks for all of your input-I think we will just do CRT (my DH pointed out the folks eating with Cinderella last trip and my DD was very excited about the idea) and skip Akershus.

I think you are short changing your son. So far, it's all been about your daughter. Your son is 9 and he will remember this trip. He might even "fondly" remember having to go to two princess meals without his input. Have you asked him about it? He's 9, he can express his own views (and not "we think this would be great for your sister, what do you think?")

Ask your son. He's 9. He's going to say exactly what is on his mind if you don't preface anything.

I think you are making the right decision. There is no real point in doing two princess meals. I also believe that the two restaurants have similar if not the same princesses. Enjoy you meal at CRT and have a magical vacation!

Well let me tell you the trick we use, for instance this time we are taking one of my DD's Friends(lucky friend):cloud9:

We are still rookies but this is how we do we let the kids look at the menus with us sorta make it a event popcorn::----they feel mostly like they have picked the ADR's after we are done, so basically if they have issues with a place we go they have me post it as a review:rotfl2: works great to keep everyone Happy....

I would not go somewhere any of the kids were not satisfied with it is easy to make them all Happy in the most Magical Place on earth......:cheer2:
