Would you book a swimming/diving excursion in Cozumel in January?

Alright, so now that I'm committed to going on my first cruise in January, I'm looking at port excursions in preparation for my reservation window. I'm aware that a lot of things may be booked before I get to them, since I can't reserve until 75 days out, and I'm not certain if all the excursions I'm seeing on the DCL site will even be offered at the time of my cruise. I've also done a bit of googling about the weather, and it sounds like Cozumel tends to be warm enough that northerners like myself will be happy to swim there, but some days may be chilly. For reference, I'll be coming from Montana, and at that time of year it'll be a good day when it gets above zero degrees Fahrenheit...so I'll have good tolerance for cold.

I'm just a little nervous at the idea of booking an excursion centered around swimming or diving if there aren't wetsuits provided, because if it's cold enough to want a windbreaker or a sweater it'll be cold enough not to want to spend the day in and out of the water. Can anyone who's been there that time of year weigh in? How concerned should I be?

We were there on our cruise this past Jan. It was nice sunny, low 80's. We did a dolphin swim and the water was fine.

You, being from Montana, will be fine. Those of us from south FL, would be chilly. Haha!
When cruising in January or February, you can find me on a lounger, in the direct sunlight, looking like an iguana under a heat lamp. Water temps must be above 87 degrees for my liking.

We've cruised in January and the water starts out a little chilly when you first get in but it isn't cold. Just takes a little getting used to. It's warm enough outside so you don't feel a chill getting out.

Agreed, coming from Montana, you will be fine. It was pleasant for us Texans, but not what I'd consider hot when we were there over Christmas. ;)
