Would we have to rebook the ADR if we need to reduce the #

We are planning our ADR's for a trip in June. There are 4 of us going, for sure, but my parents aren't sure yet if they are coming as well, which would then make it 6 of us.
I'm thinking that we should make our ADR's for 6 now, and then if my parents decide not to come, we'll call and change the # on the ressie down to 4. My question is, would that be a problem to do? Could we find ourselves in a situation where we would have to cancel the first ressie and then try to book new for the 4 of us? I'm worried that if I only book for 4 now, and then try to add 2 later, we won't be able to add them, due to space restrictions at the restaurant.

I agree to go ahead and add them now, as it is easier to remove them as to add them later.

What happens is if they don't go you can try and rebook the adr, but yes you may have to cancel it and rebook it. That becomes a problem if there isn't any available tables.
HOWEVER....if that ends up being the case and you can't rebook it, no problem. Keep your adr for 6 and just show up with 4, explain 2 of your party couldn't make it. They will still seat you.
You can do that with most adrs, places like CRT and HDDR (that require a CC hold) you have to cancel. Because if you show up with less they still charge you for the missing people.

Have a great trip!!!

This just happened to me for our 5pm Ohana ressie- I called and they were able to modify our reservation to 2 people less without any issues!
