Reading these replies just reminded me of something. At my sons' b-day last year, my neighbor's son gave my son a card with nothing in it. I was trying to decide whether to give a thank you for the "gift" or not, as I figured it was probably a mistake. Sure enough, I got an email from her saying her husband did not put the gc in the card when he went to take her child to our party (it was a drop off party). I was glad I was able to reply, "no big deal" - I wasn't going to ask or say anything. I mean, if it HAD been lost in the shuffle, what would I expect them to do, buy him another one? Families (at least most of them) don't have tons of money these days to buy a gift twice, and usually if it's lost you either get it returned right away or never. I would hate to put a friend in that position. Just my opinion.
