Would this worry you?

We got an email from the owner stating that if we are willing to pay the loading on the CC then he is happy to take CC. Confirmed with Nationwide that should anything be amiss they would pursue it as they would in the UK so all that is missing is an agreement which is because he normally rents through an agent. Think under the curcumstances as long as he confirms the booking in writing we will proceed. Feeling much happier:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Yikes I have every sympathy with you for not wanting to 'lose' your 'perfect' villa.

For other posters who have said quite rightly there are hundreds of villas out there, I couldn't find what I wanted for ages even with looking at hundreds of villas. One of the reasons was as Poet said many owners stick to Sat-Sat bookings,my main difficulty was finding a viila not overlooked or very close to neighbouring villlas and wanting to be in a specific area.Re reading this it was myself who put such limitatiuons on the villa I was looking for!

I did find a villa I love and like Poet would not want to lose it or start lloking all over again:crazy:

That is very good news you can pay by CC::yes:: Relief:hyper:

Poet, If the villa is normally rented through a local agent I would try to get hold of their details before you leave for Florida (you may even be able to check things out with them before you go) That way you will have a point of contact locally if things should go wrong after your arrival. If the owner is based in the UK there must be a local managment company who will be unlocking the villa for you and leaving the keys.

This way you will at least have peace of mind that someone is there if things should go wrong.

Whenever we've visited Orlando we 've done Thursday-Thursday or Wednesday-Wednesday bookings. There's always loads of choice from many sites/private owners.

May have missed it but where is the villa and what are you looking for to make it a " dream villa ". I've got loads of sites in my "Favourites " folder, i'll have a troll around if that's any help and pass you any useful URLs'.

Personally,I wouldn't even entertain the idea of not having a rental agreement otherwise where's your security and guarantee the villa will be there and ready for you?

As for Nationwide saying they can pursue the CC from the UK ( if things go wrong, I assume ) what comfort is that if you're in Orlando with nowhere to stay?

Having said that you need to do what you feel is best, I know what I'd have done the second I had ANY doubts.

Either way have a great time out there.

Mike,
Villa is on captiva, where rentals are very much sat-sat. This is why we are reluctant to let this go as the only other options were not as luxurious. We are now intending to pay by CC which will protect us somewhat and we have the other rentals as backup when we arrive, as by then all rentals will take last minute bookings if they have vacancies. We have a realtor on the island who has promised he will find us something if the worst happened. Ou rental in Orlando was easy to find they rent from any day. Sanibel villas rent only for 1 month minuimum unless they were deeded before the rule came in, so its Condos only for rent weekly on Sanibel and we wanted a private pool.
Believe me I have researched this to the point of nausea!! I have villas all over florida on a back up list for when we return and wish to see other areas!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
