Would this scare the crap out of you?!!!

Sorry, I still think it's a fake picture. How do you explain the wing coming thru the railling?

They may very well have done a very close fly-by this weekend.....I'm sure there are tons of great pictures out there......but I personally don't believe this one.

Darn....I don't know how to maky my pic bigger....but go back and look at the original there

...it's not coming throught he railing...it's behind it. And the pointy thing even above THAT is a sattelite dish sitting on the deck.

Yup. The plane's wing ends where the pointy thing points forward. The piece that the poster thinks is the wing coming through the deck is either a bird, a piece of outdoor furniture or a satellite dish.

ETA: We have those jets flying low over my farm from time to time. They go REALLY low. Last time one blasted over our head (from Pope AFB) I waved to the pilot and he tipped his wing at me.

As for the photo...must've been one helluva camera to catch it without blurring.

Its not through it, its barely behind it. And its a satellite dish and a table on the balcony.

Those wanting to see wing through the windows, I think you are expecting the plane is longer than it actually is. Only a small portion would still be visible through the window on the same level as the man on the balcony.

Personally, I think it is visible. I found an F/A-18 in roughly the same position and pasted it on, so you can see just how much would be visible and in what windows. Ditto for the wing and the upper balcony.

The scale is not perfect, in fact I think in the real picture, the tail would not be as far back. And I reduced quality to cut the file size.

Yep, That's the piece I was talking about. OK, I'll take Sattelite Dish as a possible explanation.

:flower3: I wasn't sure what it was either (guess I still can't be 100% positive) but I knew it wasn't part of the wing because the wings are "flat" at the ends. Then I saw the "legs" and realized it looked exactly like our dish.

Yep, I posted one too on the first page because I didn't understand why people were expecting to see more wing...but I guess since normal planes "point" it would normally make sense... LOL

hmmmmmmm the wingspan of an f18 is 40ft and an average "floor" on a building is 10 ft. if you look at the picture it matches up exactly. wouldnt that put the plane against the building? not doubting here, i dont know how to match up the feet relative to distance thing. maybe someone out there can.

My first thought were ones of doubt. That guy looks WAYYYYYYYY too calm! LOL!

Forced perspective. The camera is rather far away, so the plane, the building and the guy look closer than they actually are.

It wouldn't bother me, but I live on a naval air base... so I am used to that sort of thing. And yes, I have seen them that close to buildings. The only thing I'm unclear about it how/why the guy isn't covering his ears.. he should seriously be deaf or at least in a lot of pain.

Ummmm .......... what's that have to do with him looking calm? It's still CLOSE to him. (Sure, not 2 ft off the balcony...he'd be sucked off!:scared1: ) It's still close enough to scare the pants of him! :lmao:

If it's real, it's awesome. I don't have a problem with believing it's real. Just giving my first impression.

I'm just sayin that even as much as I love planes, one flying that close to me WHILE I WAS IN MY HOME would probably cause me to need a change of pants. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

If that had been me on the balcony, I'd have been on the floor! A few years ago, the Blue Angels did an air show in Kansas City. They were doing some practice runs along the runways at the old downtown airport. A friend and I walked up to the bluff overlooking the airport to watch during our lunch hour. One of the planes came over us. It looked like it was on top of us. I'm sure it was higher than it seemed, but it scared me to the point I was in a crouch.

The flyby was not a surprise. It was part of the ceremonies surrounding the boating event. He might have been on the balcony to watch it, and would have seen the plane coming down the water, not at all surprised by it.

I've been on the balcony of my condo...which is on the third floor (23ft plus 16 ft above sea level) and the Blue Angels (F18s) have flown by during practice and have been eye level with me...but they are about 50 ft away out over the ocean. They are flying level and would not be banked like that photo. It is beyond loud when they do that, but I love when it happens.

Oh my gosh, I wonder if that's my brother! He flies F18's out of Oceania in VA Beach and I know he was in Michigan this weekend. I'll have to drop him an email!!
