I've not had a day off in a LONG time but finally got one today.
I'm sitting here, in my living room, where the front-door is when I hear the mailman put the mail in. Rink starts barking, howling, etc.. like he does anytime anyone comes close to the door.
He's not dangerous- he's 12 pounds and would seriously lick you to death- but he makes a commotion. I'm used to it.

What I'm not used to is that the mailmen started SCREAMING at Rink and beating on our screen door for him to shup up. He was practically pounding!

I can't decide if I'm irritated because it made Rink go even crazier, because thats a lot of beating for a plastic door or because I already dislike this mailman....
He admittedly skips our street to save time, as there are only three houses on it but no matter how much we complain, it doesn't matter. I bet we only got mail today, since it's school pick-up time on our street, because there was a Delivery Confirmation/2-Day Air package from the VA. :sad2:

The mailman is allowed to skip your street because there are only three houses on it? :confused3 I'd call and complain, if I were you. That just seems so bizarre.

My neighborhood is at the end of a route. One looped street. We often get skipped because there is no one to do the job. or so we are told.

It doesn't do any good.

We also get LARGE packages left on our porch for the Elementary School across the street. I think it's clear we're not an elementary school.. but no one cares. Our neighbors have been complaining for three years, they said.

I would be so mad if our mail man did this!!!! He probably thought you were not home and did this. For all you know, he might even be doing this everyday to the screen door. I would have opened the door and said excuse me, I don't think you banging on my screen door is part of your job.  I also would go down to the post office and complain. Our mail man was always delivering the wrong mail to our mailbox and so we would have to walk over ourselves and give the mail to the proper owner. It gets real annoying quick!!! It wasn't just us he was doing it to, try the whole neighborhood!!!! so everyone was getting annoyed!! It's wrong to touch or pound on things that don't belong to you!!! Your dog was just protecting his turf. We have two huge German Shepherds and everytime the mail man comes to the mailbox they bark. I don't what it is but:confused3 there's something about mail men that dogs just don't like. Just my opinion.

Clearly, this guy needs to find another job!:sad2: Isn't it a crime to hold on willingly onto someone else's mail?:confused3

I'd start complaining and go right up the chain of command until there was some action.

The dog was obviously not a danger to him, being on the other side of the door, so why bang and yell at the dog? Just drop the mail and leave. :confused3

I wouldn't complain...YET. I'd set up a video camera and video the guy delivering mail and banging on the door. Then I'd post the darned thing on Youtube and send a link to the Postal Inspector and everyone single person you know. Don't forget message boards and news channels! Seriously, you've already tried to complain about this guy, time for him to pay.
And yes, I know I'm evil, but that's what I'd seriously do.

What did you say to the mailman after he did that? And isn't he considered a civil servant, so essentially works for you then skips your street? No way.

I would like to see anyone pound on my door to irritate my dog. Our mailman is great, the same one for years. My one dog loved him and we recently had to put the dog to sleep for cancer and my mailman gave me a sympathy card.

If this has been an ongoing issue for years, with mail delivery to the neighbors and yourself, then I wouldn't feel confident that any amount of complaining would resolve it. As much as an inconvience as it would be, I would get a post office box to have all of my mail delivered/forwarded to.

What an idiot.

My grandparents had a dog that wouldn't hurt a fly and the mailman was such a jerk he sprayed some stuff in her eyes and she went blind because of it. :sad1: JUST because she was out in the yard when he came.

I'd definitely be complaining until you got something done about him.

I'm curious because a few of you have mentioned having mailmen who skip your houses/streets. How do you get your mail? Do you have to go to the post office to get it?

We're moving soon.. in the middle of buying a house... and so we're not terribly worried about it anymore.

It just aggravated the CRAP out of me. I mean, c'mon! Geesh.

I wondering this too. You pay to send mail, you pay taxes, yet they skip your street? I'm sorry I would be fighting that tooth and nail.

He brings it... eventually... Just not everyday.

This street is one-way and a MESS when school lets out. If his timing for our street is around that time, he skips us and comes early the next day. So if we don't get mail on a Monday we'll usually get it pretty early on Tuesday.

He was here in the middle of the mess today (I actually thought Rink was just barking at the parents who park outfront and walk down to the school to get their kids) but I think it was because DH got a package of meds from the VA with a delivery confirmation/2 day air. If he didn't bring it, they'd know!
It can take a half hour, 45 minutes easy just to drive down this street when school is letting out and it's only three blocks long.

And if this is what the postal employee does every day, NO WONDER your dog freaks out!!!!

That is a fab idea!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
