I work as a receptionist at a midsized company. I sit at a huge desk that wraps around me on 3 sides. The only open area is off to the side where no visitors can see. So basically the only part of me that is visible to anyone is my head & shoulders. The lobby is by itself, and there are no other offices near me.
I always dress professionally at work and many times, that means wearing uncomfortable shoes. Sometimes I find myself slipping my shoes off under the desk. I don't think anything of it but it occurred to me that some people might be bothered by this. Obviously, I wouldn't do it if I were in a cubicle or in close proximity to others, or if my shoes and/or feet were, um... stinky.
Do you take your shoes off at work? Would it bother you if somebody else did? Do I just have entirely too much time on my hands to worry about silly things?

It only bothers me when people pad around the office in their stocking feet. I don't care if they sit at their desk but don't walk around.
I do it anyway
