Would this be frowned upon or look tacky?

We normally stay "value" but will be splurging to stay onsite at HRH. Instead of paying for food at the poolside bar, I thought about ordering a pizza from Flipper's or picking up something elsewhere as take-out. Is it tacky to have outside food to eat poolside?

Thanks!

I know people order pizza and have it delivered to the hotel. They just pick it up in the lobby area.I would imagine people also pick up food at City Walk of else where and bring it back to the hotel. I just would be a bit discreet with it around the pool though.

The prices poolside are reasonable.:thumbsup2

I personally would not bring outside food to the pool. Take it to your room no problem.

They would usually ask you to leave the pool area if you have your own food same with drinks, as the waiting staff do keep a close eye on people i have found with all my stays.
Like PP said take it to your room and eat

I`ve seen people meet a delivery person in the lobby and then take their pizzas to their room.

But never seen anyone eat them poolside.

Food at the pool bars are very good and as Bluer says reasonable prices :thumbsup2

The only thing we have done on our longer summer stays is, I have gone to the room and brought a few drinks down ( we travel with lots of food and drinks ) to the pool wrapped in a towel. But we order food poolside to go with it. The staff has also offered a cup of ice to pour it in. But this is because you are spending money I can assume. :thumbsup2

It looks like there is a consensus on the answer. Thanks for the information! :thumbsup2

You can walk over the Portofino and have Sal's pizza. It is excellent pizza and very reasonably priced! You could even pool hop while you are at it.

The one time we stayed at HRH we brought a couple of bottles of beer with us and were told by wait staff that it was not allowed. Got to make their $$ somehow! Guess glass bottles could be a safety issue though..

Look at it this way:

Would you go out to a fancy restaurant, but stop by McDonald and bring your own food to save money?

:lmao: Yes, actually, we have OFTEN carried food from one restaurant to eat at another. Not to save money but when one person prefers the food from X and the rest of us want to eat at Y. The only thing ever said to us was the waitstaff joking that it looked good and could they have some.

I don't really equate "poolside" with "fancy restaurant" anyway. I don't usually go to fancy restaurants in my swimsuit and flip flops either.

Don't worry, you won't see me like this poolside: :laundy:

The poolside areas at the resorts are very nice and upscale. Well worth the money to be spoiled.

I'm just saying, not being mean.;)

Yes, we are guilty if bringing food from one fast food to another for our son.:thumbsup2

Thanks. I sincerely appreciate the information. I understand that what may fly at a Hotel 6 pool may not be appropriate at upscale resorts. That's why I asked. :goodvibes

when ordering food drinks poolside do you tip each time or at end thanks

I am renting a cabana for a day and this is part of the letter they emailed me:

Here are some helpful tips for your day at the pool:
·All Cabanas receive a complimentary fruit basket as well as an assortment of
soda and water
·Outside food, alcohol, coolers, pets and glass are prohibited throughout the
pool area
·Swim diapers, life jackets, ping-pong paddles and balls, shuffle board
equipment, and volleyballs are available complimentary at the towel hut
·Dive in Movies are shown nightly at sunset
·Smoking is allowed in cabanas 3-6 only
.Due to Florida's unpredictable weather patterns, refunds will not be issued
because of inclement weather conditions.

So they do not allow outside food or drink at the pool.

@Kingken...you should check to be sure, but as I recall, an 18% tip was included in the price of the drinks I purchased pool-side last trip. :)

When we stay on Club Level, we bring snacks and drinks down to the pool from the lounge. We've paid RPR for them. Are they considered 'outside' food?

the have an appetizer sampler at the HRH poolside that is really good and can feed a number of people. its perfect for lunch and not expensive.
