Would Thanksgiving week be a good time to Visit Disney World?

If it's a first trip, then I would say definitely NO. It is one of the most crowded weeks to visit, along with Christmas week and Easter week.
If you don't mind big crowds and long lines for everything (even the rest rooms!) then you may want to consider it. It really helps to know the ropes and have a strategy before going in.
If you don't have to work around school vacations, then you would be better off considering a different week.

Thanksgiving week is crazy! We caught the end of it on our way in this year and whoa!!
If you want a quieter time to go the week before or after is better.
But there are even slower times of the year. I would check into it if you are wanting low crowds.

We went this year for Thanksgiving. It was our first time at Disney during a holiday week. We had decided last year as a family to go to Disney specifically for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Yes, it was more crowded than we have seen at other times of the year we have visited. What we noticed was that it got busier the closer we got to Thanksgiving Day.

We took advantage of EMH in most of the parks and got to do all of the major attractions. Some of the family went golfing, some of the family went to the water parks, some stayed by the pool.

We had a pretty aggressive touring plan so that we could get all of the major attractions in, but we built in free time and down time. too.

We had a wonderful time together eating dinner at the different resorts and also checking out the beautiful decorations.

We would go back again for Thanksgiving week. It was great!

We were there Thanksgiving week this last year- it honestly wasn't that bad.

HOWEVER- we did subscribe to Tour Guide Mike and followed his recommendations for which parks to visit which days to the T. This helped a LOT. We also did not going into a park on Thanksgiving day- I heard other guests say that MK was a nightmare, but we were happily swimming, eating and going to la Nouba that day. :)

It was fun to see the parks all decked out for the holidays, and we were able to go to the Christmas party- which was fun!

We go every Thanksgiving and have a blast. The Christmas decorations are up and Osborne Lights is too. Because we have been 10+ times it is no big deal if we don't do everything. We just do our favorites and try to do something new. Last year we had the free QSDP and it was a hoot. We are spoiled now.

If you can get everybody to the park when it opens, the first several hours can be productive and enjoyable even during Thanksgiving week. If you show up at 11am to start your day, your experience will suffer.

You need to have a plan also pick up fastpasses whenever possible.

The atmosphere and decorations are pretty cool!
