Would my 6yo DD enjoy a trip to Baltimore's Inner Harbor and Aquarium??

You bet. The aquarium is very nice my DS's have always enjoyed it. We also bought the tickets to tour the ships and sub. It was pretty cool to see how they all worked. We're going down on Sunday for the day to meet middle DS(he attends Univ. of Md in College Park) to take him out to lunch at Cheesecake Factory for his birthday.

If your daughter enjoys nature or sealife, I'd say yes to the aquarium. My DD has been talking about being a marine biologist since she was ~4. She LOVES the aquarium! Since it's self-paced you can do as much or as little as you want.

As far as the inner harbor itself, I think that's more for the adults. However, if you do go, please think about spending time over at the Maryland Science Center. It's kind of a cross between the Franklin Institute & the Please Touch Museum. Both of my kids enjoyed that as much as the aquarium!

My kids LOVE the National Aquarium in Baltimore. We go at least a few times each year. Its so relaxing and serene inside. Also, there is a wonderful dolphin show - don't miss it!

There are plenty of other things for kids to do in that area. There is the ESPN club, and Port Discovery, and all sorts of little shops to browse through. There are great restaurants, and also a nice eatery with lots of different selections. On most weekends you can find outdoor entertainment - sometimes a juggler or a mime or some such. Always a good time, we love the Aquarium/Inner Harbor and I think your 6 year old will too.

Another "yes" vote here! We just went to the Aquarium this past weekend. DS (almost 5) loves it. The Maryland Science Center is also great, as is Port Discovery. One thing about Port Discovery, though, is that there is a huge climbing structure that's sort of the "centerpiece" of the place. Kids love it, but you have to either be willing to climb around in it with your kid, or to go for long periods of time without being quite sure where your kid is! (Kinda like the HISTK playground at MGM!)

Absolutely!

I would be sure to visit on a weekday, or before the weather gets really nice. When it's packed, it's packed! It's not such a big deal for us tall folks, but the little people have a hard time getting close enough to see the exhibits when it's crowded.

Yes, and I agree with ryanpatricksmom about going during the week if possible. My children absolutely love it down there. If you stay somewhere overnight I would recommend the Hyatt. It is a little expensive but you can get the best views of the harbor.

My 7 year old DD loved it this past summer. And, we got a great rate (and a great view) at the Hyatt.

Another thumbs up! That area is really nice!

I also agree about the climbing area at Port Discovery. The last time we went was on a Friday last summer. It was a field trip circus!! Just about every summer camp in the state (a little exaggeration!) was there, with thousands of screaming kids.

My kids have enjoyed the aquarium and the science center as well. I strongly suggest you buy tickets ahead for both places, and the line is HORRIBLE!

No disagreement with previous posters....we had a great time there! But, particularly on weekends, you should buy your tickets in advance. Here's a website with particulars.

Piglet, I think we just lucked out. We had seen rates of $189 to $225 on various websites and on a lark I called the hotel directly to see if they had any specials with AAA or anything. Turns out they were having some sort of special and gave us a of rate of $89 with a king bed and a roll out bed for our daughter. We had a great room and great view. I don't know if the reservationist made a mistake or not, but we had her fax the confirmation. It was also on a Monday night in May so they may have been trying to drum up business. I'm sure weekends and summer months are much higher. Good luck!!

The Aquarium and Science Center are good ideas. Also, Fort McHenry, where the Star Spangled Banner was written is not far. I am not positive, but I think Port Discovery may have closed.
