Little back ground on me. I am a woman of color and for those of you who either are women of color or know someone who is a woman of color we do not get our hair wet. Most of us just stay on the side of the pool and won't even venture any where near the water. Last August I for the very first time in my life got my very long hair cut and I have a cute soulder lenght layered bob cut. I love it. Here's the thing tho - the day before we leave for our trip next month I plan to have my hair done. This is our first trip where we have several resort days built into our trip so much of that time will be spent with my family at the pool. They don't have the same hair issues as I do to the fact that my husband is Asian and my kids have wash and wear hair. I am trying to come up with a plan that will allow me to take a dip in the pool and splash around with them while keeping my hair dry and ready for dinner in the evenings.
I found this website that sells all sorts of swimcaps and some I thought were really cute but the problem is I don't recall seeing very many people wearing them at the pool or at the water parks. Will people look at me as though I'm from another era or another planet all together if I showed up wearing this? Towards the end of our 10day trip I will relax a bit and probably for go the cap all together but I did want to have my hair looking cute for most of the trip.

i wouldnt think anything if i saw someone with a swim cap. btw i have long hair that frizzes terribly in florida i try very hard not to get mine wet either because it looks a mess after that, mine is long enough for a very tight bun
Having said that I have had my dd wear a swim cap for lessons and her hair still managed to get wet under the cap, so beware that it is not always water tight.
