Would I be "DIS"-owned if I said I didn't want to go to MVMCP?

Ok. Here's the story.

DH and I have been to MVMCP in 2002. Loved the parade and entertainment, caroling, etc. . We will be taking the whole family this year to WDW (5 of us) and I'm having a hard time with the $165 we would have to spend to go to one of the parties.

We are buying AP's and will be there for 14 days so I'm sure there is not an attraction that we won't be able to go on multiple times. I liked the hot chocolate and cookies but I could buy them for cheaper. :teeth:

I know I would be bummed about missing the parade but is it worth $165??

I am trying to make this a semi-cheap trip because we are trying to plan two other trips in 2006 with our AP's. Ofcourse, that was before last night when I went to the dentist and found out I need two root canals and a crown to the tune of $2800!! No! I don't care if we have to live on noodles for the next year, WE'RE GOING! :p

So, do you think I'd still be a good DISer if we didn't go?

To me a good DISer makes the best decisions for his/her family in how to get the best value for money spent! ;) Sounds like you feel you'll get plenty of park time and could use that money for other things. If that's your choice, then make the most of it!

Others may disagree, but we made our first December visit in 2004, and while MVMCP was fun, I really enjoyed so many of the other special holiday activities, including just checking out all the wonderful resort decorations (free looks were definitely within our budget)! If I were lucky enough to return again during that time, Candlelight Processional would be on my must-do-again list. But that's just me. It's wonderful that Disney offers so many options... enjoy planning your December trip! :wave2:

It was so crowded last year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I vowed that I wouldn't do MVMCP again. I don't think that you will be missing too much. We're going the first week in Dec. and I know that it will be hard for me not to buy the tickets but I really think it wasn't worth it.

I keep going back on forth on whether or not to spend the $160 for the 4 of us. We will be there Dec. 18th-26th and I understand from others that the parade and shows can also be seen during the afternoon that week. So I'm trying to justify spending that much money. I could use the money on a couple of character meals or souvenirs. Then again, I would like to go to the party because I've never been before. I don't know what to do. :confused3

We went to MVMCP Dec 2004, 12/14 and 12/16. They were fun, but they were a mistake for us. We tried to "rest up" the days of MVMCP and then the next day we were exhausted, so those were wasted park days. But we have APs, so we shouldve spent that time at the parks instead of resting for and from MVMCP. We didn't have any park hopper days to "save up" and we spent extra money on MVMCP tickets.

I still say the same as CarolinaBlue because we went last year from the 17th-23rd. The last night of the party was the 17th and we dished out the extra money thinking it was special. Everything we did for the extra money on the 17th, we did for free on the 18th. We were extremely disappointed. We're used to the Halloween party and everything is special...there is no other time to see those things. The Christmas party is not good to go to if you are going to be there through Christmas week while it's going on during the day. I will not go back to the Christmas party again....but raring to go for my Oct. trip and MNNSHP!! :flower:

You don't want to go, don't go. It's your holiday, you have to what's best for your family. If the money will be better spent elsewhere, then by all means. You'll have a magical trip either way! :wizard:

Oh, I feel the same way about Candlelight Processional. We have been telling the kids about this one for over two years! They can't wait.

sunny04..........we will be there Nov. 26th-Dec. 10th so we will miss out on Christmas week stuff. I would feel the same about MNSSHP. We are planning to do that one in Oct./2006.

Well, since you are not going to be there for Christmas things during regular hours, it's really up to you. A lot of people don't go to the parties, and a lot of people do. It is lots of fun and they give you free yummy cookies and yummy hot chocolate. :goodvibes You'll have fun if you go, but you'll have fun if you don't go and spend that time in another park.

PS. The Candlelight Processional is wonderful!

I went to the Christmas party in 2001, 2002, and 2003. In 2004 I was at WDW in October so went to the Halloween party, and really loved it. I was able to make a quickie trip to WDW in mid-December, and opted NOT to go to the Christmas party - because of having only 3 days at WDW, wanting to save money, and because I had been to the Halloween party just 2 months prior. It was a good decision, cuz I would've frozen had I gone to the Dec. 12th Christmas party!

Ok. You have all convinced me to stick with my plan to skip the party. I don't feel so bad now. thanks. :) I think I'd rather spend money on a dinner package for CP.

Off to find out more about CP......... :moped:
