hello everyone, and thanks for your time. here is my delema... my dh and i are going to stay at the AKL this time. i am booking a 1 bedroom suite as a suprise for dh. if i tell wdw this can they keep it a secret up until we open our room?? ie not say ahh, we have the suite ready. and second, our friends are going to go on our vacation with us, but they dont feel they can swing for the concierge so they are getting a standard view. i researched it and it would only cost about $84 extra per person ( there are 2 of them ) to add 2 more guest staying in our room. so in another words, we would pay for 4 ppl. in our suite but they would be getting their own room. would disney get mad about this?? they would have their own key to our room and the same access to the concierge.

your opinion matters!! my hubby has no oppinion on the whole thing, lol.

oh yes, we are all adults in our late 20's, early 30's and have no kids.

Why not upgrade your friends room to concierge with that $84 without telling them ? then you are not breaking any rules. How do you pay extra for having people in a suite ? I thought room charges were standard at WDW ??

wouldnt booking a room for 4 ppl the same as if i actually had 4 ppl?? i dont want to sneak them up. what i did was get a quote for 4 ppl, then agian for 2 ppl and subtracted the difference. thats how i came up with that number. am i wrong??

You are not doing anything wrong, and no one would care. You are allowed 4 people in your room, and you'll be paying for those 4 people. If your friends choose not to sleep there, that's their business. I think it's great that you want to do this for your friends so they can enjoy the concierge lounge with you.

So they would actually be registered in 2 rooms??!!
Is that it?
I don't think they would allow it....something just doesn't seem right about that.

Anyway, like maigcmouse2 said....why not just pay to upgrade them?

I would call and ask. Disney could actually lose money if they say no. It is less for two extra adults in the room with you than for a whole extra standard room. What I would do is this:

Explain that you are adding two adults to your room , then ask about booking another room (standard) just for the extra sleeping space. If you book it all in your name, it might be okay (then your friends will just have to write you a check for their room). I can't see anything being wrong, since you are willing to PAY for the two extra adults in your room.

Nope, you're right! :) Disney charges extra for the third and 4th adult. I believe it's $25/night for each. So $50 before taxes.

As for whether or not you can do this, I'm with susy. I don't think it should be a problem. There's really nothing illegal going on. But if it is a problem, then as susy said, just book the two rooms in your own name, and they can pay you.

I really don't see a problem with this at all. You are paying for the 2 extra people in your room, there is no reason why they can't use the lounge. If you weren't paying and you were sneaking them in, that would be a different story, but they will have keys, I don't see a problem at all.

This is what I would do. When your friends check-in to AKL have them ask if an upsell is available to concierge. I bet they can upgrade for less than what it would cost to add them to your suite. :) If that doesn't work then you could add them to your room... I don't see a problem with that.... it's very common for people to be registered for two rooms.

hey guys, thank you for your imput... someone elses opinion is sometimes nice to have. how ever, i still have another question. if i book a suite and request Disney NOT to say anything about it because i am doing this as a suprise, will they do that?? i just think that would be a great thing to do for my husband! he was kind of sad because i had to change out plans around and do the Hard Rock Hotel first, then cruise, and Disney last. he just loves the rooms at HRH, and ofcourse we do conceirge for everything.

so what do you think?? if i can not tell him about the suite ( an amazing feat in itself  ) then can they be hush hush??

You can email concierge staff closer to the time of your stay. I'm sure they will keep your secret. :)

You will save a lot of money adding your friends' names to your room than if you paid to upgrade them to concierge. All you will have to pay is the $50/night for the extra adult fee. If you upgraded them, it would be over $200/night.

You are not doing anything wrong.

The 1br suites sleep 6 people so you can have up to 6 people on the reservation.

You can always ask if they can have the concierge upgrade at check-in if that would make you more comfortable but that's up to you.

Will you all be arriving together?

you are not going to believe this. my DH was trying to be more "helpfull" and more involved in the planning in our trip. yep, he checked our e-mail ( never does this ) and thought he would see what all the fuss was about the Disboards i keep telling him about. needless to say, he thinks a suite is a great idea.

i guess i gotta love him, huh. :love2:
