Would cargo shorts provide enough storage?

The more I read about strategies for touring US and IOA, the more I want to avoid messing with the lockers and their associated crowd control issues as much as possible.

Is it possible to carry enough stuff around in the deep pockets of cargo shorts to be able to successfully and comfortably tour these parks? What would be your minimum essentials list that you could cram into pockets w/o having to resort to something you'd have to check into a locker? Would a small camera, a few band-aids, a travel size tube of sunscreen, one of those thin disposable ponchos, a couple of large Ziploc bags, a pill minder (for motion sickness and pain meds), a couple of batteries, and a place to store room key (we're on property), AAA card, CC, and some cash in pockets that zip or snap closed be sufficient, do you think?

All I take is my park tickets and room key, ID, money and motion sickness meds. Occasionally a camera.

You're gonna look like Cosmo Kramer going to pay off his calzones at the pizza place with nothing but pennies.

Agree with damo--I don't think you need all that stuff personally, but only you can know. Best advice I have is just to load up for a few minutes and see if you think you can do it all day.

Don't tell my DW, but I'd lose the sunscreen and poncho. Elements, schmelements.

I agree. When you are staying onsite, you can go back to the hotel to reload.

All I carry is my wallet, camera, phone, and 2 ziploc bags. Sometimes an EpiPen, but only if bees are out.

I did US/IOA for 3 days in cargo shorts. However I didn't have quite all the stuff you mentioned. I don't get motion sickness but I did throw a couple pain meds in a ziplock and into my pockets I had my camera but it was in a belt holster. and then my wallet with money CC room key ect. We put on sunscreen before we went out and it lasted all day if you wanted to put some in your pocket a travel size would probably work ok. The only thing I had in my big cargo pockets was our refillable Butterbeer mugs. I had 2 cups and we got a 2 or 3 BB's per day so we would drink it go into the bathroom and rinse it then it would go back into my deep side pockets. it was a little bit annoying on some rides but not uncomfortable and my pockets buttoned so I never lost anything on the rides. I plan on doing it that way again at the end of the month when we go back I didn't have to bother with the lockers which was a lot nicer.

I always wear cargo shorts -- but I don't carry all that junk around. Phone & wallet (room key is in the wallet). Sometimes a camera, but the camera in the phone is good enough that I usuall don't bring the "real" camera.

Maybe one ziplock if you're going on a water ride... but that's it.

I always wear cargos but I've never attempted to carry this much stuff! My pants would fall down! :rotfl:

Cargos are an excellent idea but if you're going to carry all that stuff, I would stick with a fanny pack instead loading down your shorts.

Thanks. I have to restrain myself from referencing obscure pop-culture too much or I risk turning into Dennis Miller. But I figured Seinfeld was popular enough that someone would get it. :). I'll be here all week.

That will all fit. Make sure you get the kind with snap pockets, the ones with button pockets are a pain to get open and closed.

You might want to rethink the amount of stuff you're bringing though - you really don't need the ponchos. :)

Thanks for the rapid (and humorous) replies! I certainly don't want to be pulling my shorts up from my ankles all day, so I will cut down on the amount of stuff. Don't want anything flying away on FJ!

There'll be three of us in our party, so if we divvy up some of this stuff among an equal number of pairs of cargo shorts, we won't look like we've been "stealin' at the 7-Eleven".

Pants on the ground! Pants on the ground! Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground! ;)

I did cargo shorts for a week of park visiting in March - and LOVED being hands-free. I took phone, camera, small tube (trial size) sunscreen, cash/credit cards/id/room key, a couple ibuprofen pills in a small plastic bag, and sunglasses with neck strap. I could have fit one of those tiny rain ponchos in another pocket - but there was no threat of rain the days I went.

I'm fair-skinned - the sunscreen was essential - I saw lots of folks looking like lobsters - and that was NOT me. :)

Planned my purchases to either be waiting at the gate at the end of the day or bought and stored in a locker. Never carried anything...... Loved it!

I did cargos my first day and was fine. I would have done just cargos all the days but had to carry around my butterbeer mug ;):wizard:

I crammed the following into pockets: chapstick, ID/cash/CC/tickets/express pass in small wallet type thing, small sunscreen, phone, small camera, snacks, and car keys.

My pants had a tie around the waist which kept them up. ;)

I always wear cargo shorts when I go to a park, I just bring my keys, wallet and cell phone with me and put them in a zippered pocket (I don't trust buttons or velcro on rides that go upside down or with a lot of air time).

My DD lost her cell phone at Six Flags on a roller coaster that went upside down. It was in her boyfriend's buttoned pocket.

(Amazingly they mailed it back to her a few days later and it still worked!)

So, what exactly are the rules with these lockers/rides?

Is it just that you cannot bring loose bags/items on the ride?

Someone earlier in the thread said something about using a fanny pack. Are these allowed on the rides.

I am going with my Family next week. We can fit everything in our pockets with the exception of our video camera, which would easily fit in a fanny pack, or maybe cargo pants.
